Best advice to Obama? Dumb it down — and soon
Houston Chronicle ^ | Sept. 21, 2008 | Clarence Page

Posted on 09/21/2008 5:19:56 AM PDT by Cincinatus

This is the season of high political anxiety. After months in the lead, Sen. Barack Obama has slipped back in the polls to dead even with the Republican ticket of Sen. John McCain of Arizona and Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska.

As we enter the season of highest political advice, here's my advice to the Democrats: Dumb it down.

I don't need to give that advice to the Republicans. They've been dumbing it down for years. That's why they keep winning.

They think Republicans win every four years because the American people are stupid. That's their honest opinion of us!

As in, Republicans are dumb...... the reasons Democrats lose, when they do, is that they completely misjudge the intellect of the Republican party. They conjure up visions of rednecks, idiots, hillbillies, and the like. In reality, they fail to realize that it is their base who are the northern, left-coast and urban equivalent of what they ascribe to Republicans.

That is why liberals keep losing. They think Americans are too dumb to make their own decisions. Last I checked, it was the Harvard-and-Yale-educated elite that just decimated the financial sector and put dumb working Americans on the hook for over a trillion dollars. McCain needs to hit this subject and hit it hard.

They cashed out first, leaving us holding the bag. Maybe they are smarter.

And they think the voters are actually too dumb to notice the condescension.

Smarter in a vastly more cynical manner, I agree. McCain needs to connect the two concepts - the elite tell us in minute detail how to lead our lives as they ignore or remove constraints on their own actions. And after they’ve made their coin and the economy is going down the tubes, they stick working stiffs with the tab. THAT should be McCain’s take on the economy - vote for Obama and the Dems, and we’ll just do this again soon.

Dumb it down? Heck, the Obamaloon defines dumb.

And, the article is written by a journalist telling us that we are dumb, eh? Hey journalo-loon, remember that you are there because you can do nothing else - except perhaps for politics. For you, the operation of a light bulb constitutes a graduate course in physics.

For liberals, “smarter” equals non-stop puffery about change, hope, diversity, sensitivity, peace, love and rock-n-roll. If those themes are “smart”, then Lord please keep me dumb.

In other words Clarence you finally figured it out, eh? How could a bright mind like you have taken so long? Were you stuck on stupid?

Mr Page is going to lecture us about intelligence and party affiliation. Considering a percentage of Obama’s minions thinks 9/11 was an inside job, that AGW is a scientific law and even think the word word ‘axe’ is interchangable with the word ‘ask’.
