From a reader:
The FReepers are comparing her to Reagan. I didnt put too much credibility into it, I mean, you can expect that kind of reaction from the FReepers. But then the people on my dog training forum are comparing her to Reagan. And the people on my cooking forum are comparing her to Reagan.
I am not comparing her to Reagan, yet. There was A LOT more to Reagan than one speech!
But you need to know some people are. And that is quite an accomplishment.

That was MY initial impression. I think she has Reagan's qualities... why not? True, its just one speech but there is a LOT more to Sarah just as there was to Reagan!

My husband and I were comparing her (somewhat) to Reagan after her speech... "The Great Communicator" comes to mind.
We shall see... ;-)

She had the same obvious love of country as Reagan, the same ability to be cutting and funny at the same time, the same natural speaking talent.
Yet while Reagan had a larger-than-life quality, Palin was like someone you know from your neighborhood who can take on powerful interests and then you'll see her at the local bar and grille on Saturday night.
She's a regular-folks version of Reagan. (And I'm not dissing Reagan in any way, merely making a distinction.) She's an original.

A post of mine from the RNC live thread earlier:
She is here. This is her party now. Conservatism is BACK ! AMERICA IS BACK !!
There will only ever be one Ronaldus Magnus....but Palin for now IS American Conservatism....Her ability to speak clearly and from the heart...directly to the hearts and minds of Americans, IN SPITE of the pc fascism and left wing media filters that permeates modern public debate, is really what made Ronald Reagan the face of modern conservatism. And that's what American Conservatives have been longing for since Reagan's departure from the political scene.
If she's the real deal, and as yet I have no reason to doubt her, she can be the face of American Conservatism for another generation.

I noticed that about her speech, I could understand every word she said and every word she said was worth understanding.

I don't think she's The Gipper... no one could replace him. But she has that same ability to relate to the American people and make them feel good about themselves and the country the way Reagan did. No politician I could think of was like Reagan until Sarah. He was a tough act to follow and deservedly so. But she's fit to stand in his company!

we never had anything like this beforeTHAT is why the media hate her--she's what the feminists CLAIM they like about women, but she's not a dem.
She's the anti-Hillary--she made it on her own, and while Hillary is praised for riding her hubby's name to fame and power, they bash Palin for being her own person.
The feminist revolution wasn't fought for ALL women, but for liberal women, and the most prominent (small-f) "feminist" is a woman who's made her own way, is fighting the corruption of the old boys' network while also having a family...BUT she isn't one of THEM (Feminists).
It wasn't supposed to happen this way, and they're freaking out.

LOL!!! That’s awesome!
I only worry about what the left is going to do now. How many more family members of McCain/Palin can they seek to attack?

Exactly. She's natural and very likable. That's why the Left is deranged. Sarah is the best spokesperson for conservatism since Reagan.

She has got to be the best candidate ever! She has a lot of Reagan’s qualities. I Love this fine lady! She might be on the wrong side of the ticket. She should be on top and she probably will in 2012!
