In Tennessee McCain Leads by 24
Rasmussen Reports ^ | August 22, 2008

John McCain now leads Barack Obama in the Volunteer State by twenty-four percentage points in Tennessee. The latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey in the Volunteer State shows McCain with a 56% to 32% margin. That’s essentially where the race stood in April although Obama managed to close the gap to fifteen points in June, shortly after wrapping up the Democratic nomination.

When “leaners” are included, McCain now leads Obama 60% to 35%. Leaners are survey participants who initially indicate no preference for either major candidate but indicate that they are leaning towards either McCain or Obama.

Fifty-seven percent (57%) say that most reporters are trying to help Obama win the election while just 9% believe the media is trying to help McCain. These figures are similar to the national average. Another recent survey found that most voters see media bias as a bigger problem than large campaign contributions.

No, it’s not a Black city, but it is a heavily Dem city with NO GOP apparatus (to get an idea, yours truly was asked to run as a Republican for office here, *cough*) and has not elected a GOP Congressmember since 1872 or Mayor since the 1880s. We never had the sharp polarization other Southern cities had, since many of the Dems weren’t moonbats, but they ARE moonbats now. The Mayor is far-left, as is the Congressman. If Obama gets below that 55%, I will be very surprised. I couldn’t believe how BIG Junior Ford won Nashville by (especially considering Corker once briefly pondered running for Nashville Mayor in the late ‘90s before he went back down to Chattanooga).

All I can say is if McCain gets elected, he is the
luckiest guy in the world to have an opponent with:

>> Least experience of any elected person running

>> Zero executive experience where one makes hard decisions
alone and has to balance budgets

>> Hussein for middle name and a muslim father in post-911 era

>> Bradley effect may be in play as first AA nominee for prez

Obama and Arkansas

The NY Times dispatched a reporter to write for Saturday’s print edition about the lack of enthusiasm for Barack Obama in Arkansas and his lack of campaign effort. It’s a major piece. How to explain a paid staff and office in Louisiana, but not here?

“In Arkansas, unlike other southern states, Democrats have maintained dominance by keeping white, conservative, rural voters — the ones that need the most convincing by Mr. Obama — in the fold. Arkansas’s population is whiter than the rest of the South; it is only 16 percent black, compared with 30 percent in Georgia and 21 percent in North Carolina. Its voters are older, less educated and include fewer transplants from outside the South. Virginia has elected a black governor; Arkansas has never elected a black candidate to statewide office.”

******

No, it’s not a biased ‘report’ from someone from THE NEW YORK TIMES telling the rest of us what we THINK. /s

We are all just ‘whiter, older and less educated’ and that’s the reason we aren’t voting for Obama! I think I would call this so called ‘report’ RACIST from non other than the NYTs.

http://tinyurl.com/5jm5pa

The FACT that Obama is a SOCIALIST doesn’t have anything to do with keeping ‘whiter, older and less educated’ people from voting for the 1/2 white guy. /s

We are just RACIST according to the know-it-all NYTs. Expect to hear more of this when Obama tanks.

Tenn went for the actual winning president in 1960 as well. Who down there could have known about the Chicago FIX being in?

My fantasy is that it gets wrapped up before Cal’s 55 votes are counted. And I don’t even care for McCain.

TN is hardly on the Obama radar. He doesn’t want it, or need it. It is going to be one of the highest win margins for McCain in my opinion. Its also a state that is turning more and more to the GOP, and I would think that would eventually be reflected in national/state offices in the near future.

Wasn’t this one state the Dems thought they just might have a shot at a few months back? I guess not anymore.

This is remarkable considering that in 2006 Harold Ford, Jr., narrowly lost to Bob Corker (50,000-vote margin)...a narrower margin than Gore lost by in 2000.

“That is not good news to the anointed one. Tenn. has a lot of black folks. I hope it’s accurate but but something tells me it’s not.”

I tend to believe the poll (60% McCain vs. 35% Obama when likely voters are counted into the total). Here’s why:

Tennessee does have a higher proportion of blacks, but I would reckon that total doesn’t exceed 25% of the total state population, possibly a little less (someone with up-to-date census information should jump in with real numbers).

This is twice the proportion of blacks vis-a-vis the nation as a whole (I believe blacks make up about 12-13% of the total population of the United States), but of course not enough to give Obama the vote count he needs to win.

If we take the 25% “black vote” as a given, that means Obama needs one third of the remaining 75% of the voting population (assuming white) to win, or fully 25% of all white votes cast in Tennessee.

I don’t think he’s getting that. He’s getting _some_ (looks like 7-8% of the 75%), but he still needs about three times as many white votes there as he’s getting now. I don’t see that happening.

Simply stated, the EuroAmericans in Tennessee are saying “NOBama” because they know better.

Obama will be lucky to break 40% in Tennessee when the final votes are counted.

- John
By the way, if blacks make up MORE THAN 25% of the electorate in TN, this suggests Obama is getting almost NO white vote there. Take that any way you wish to....

Actually, you’re not far from the truth!

Please explain ... or shall I assume that your generalization in this case is indicative of your overall worldview.
