Battling for America's Soul: How Homosexual "Marriage" Threatens Our Nation and Faith
American Society for the Defense of Tradition, Family, and Property ^ | 6/5/2008 | TFP

Within the perspective of the nation’s Cultural War, Americans felt the full force of two actions favoring the homosexual movement in May 2008. Same-sex "marriage" is now being imposed upon the nation by government fiat.

On May 15, 2008, California’s Supreme Court declared the unconstitutionality of Proposition 22—ignoring the voices of 61% of California voters who approved the measure in 2000—and all other California statutes restricting marriage to the union of one man and one woman and imposed homosexual "marriage" on the Golden State.

Concomitantly, New York Governor David Patterson unilaterally ordered all government agencies... to same-sex "marriages" contracted outside the state....

By legalizing same-sex "marriage," the State becomes its official and active promoter. It calls on public officials to officiate at the new civil ceremony, orders public schools to teach its acceptability to children, and punishes any state employee who expresses disapproval....

In any situation where marriage affects society, the State will expect Christians and all people of good will to betray their consciences by condoning, through silence or act, an attack on Divine law and the natural order.

Left unchecked, this anti-Christian trend will become an unprecedented assault on the First Amendment and our American way of life that we do not hesitate to call persecution....

We must join the Crusade like many who "preceded us with the sign of faith." Unlike the Crusades of old, ours is not physical, but spiritual. Being part of this spiritual crusade means being an untiring apostle for marriage and the family; to never lose an opportunity to tell others—family, friends, neighbors, and co-workers—that homosexual acts and same-sex "marriage" are wrong, unnatural and "intrinsically evil."

...The stakes are also clear. This is a battle for the soul of America. The so-called Cultural War is gradually becoming a Religious War....

Pretty soon even suggesting homosexual gay sex in a bath house might somehow be immoral will be considered hate speech. Simply quoting passages in the Bible will get you fined or possibly thrown in jail.

A friend (also a Christian) and I were having breakfast not too long ago. I mentioned that I thought American Christians may start to be persecuted. His reply? “Bring it on!’.

His reasoning is that the Church of Jesus Christ always seems to grow when it gets persecuted. Every time it’s been persecuted, as far as history is concerned, it has NEVER been stamped out, and usually sees huge numbers of people turning to the faith. Look at Russia...there was always an underground of believers, even if they were hounded, imprisoned, or even killed. Modern-day China is the same way. The Beijing government will never admit it, but the Chinese have an enormous underground church.

I mentioned that a persecuted American church might mean many will leave. He said that it would just be God, shaking out the wishy-washy and unfaithful.

The thought also forces one (I speak of myself) to wonder what they would do if someone knocked (more like pounded) on the door one day and demanded an oath of allegiance to the state denouncing Jesus and Christianity, or go to jail.

Sobering...because it CAN happen here.

I can’t still hear the voice of conservatives in the electoral campaign when OBAMA clearly stated that he supported Gay activists and insane claims to be considered legally as normal couples and families...

I understand that McCAIN don’t want to appear as a hardcore conservative and show that he is not “homophobic” ie against homosexual people...Hope he will get the right stance

there is a great debate raging among Christians today. On one side, the liberals want Christianity to follow society and adopt their new trends such as acceptance of homosexual actions, abortions, etc. On this side of the debate we include denominations such as the United Church of Christ, Presbyterians, Methodists and Episcopalians.

The other side says no! Christianity must always be the plumb line, to set the standard for society.I suspect most of FR align themselves on this side of the debate.
I believe the judicial may have the same debate going on amongst themselves.

So, if I may guess, you’re in favor of this? Are you hinting that Christian conservatives are like Islamic fundamentalists? If you are, you are taking the leftist view.

It already is happening here within some localities and institutions (such as academia and journalism). It's just not monolithic at this point. I tend to agree with your friend, though - around 80% of this country claims to be Christian, but their faith is questionable to say the least. The winnowing of wheat and chaff will be a good thing. You'd think Satan would learn when to leave well enough alone. ;-)

As much as I would like to see Christianity be the plumb line for society, and it used to be, I think we will not see that happen again. Little by little over the last 100 years or so, true Christianity has been weeded out of the public square, and into a closet where it’s fine if that’s what you want to believe, but only behind closed doors.

And now, the attack has been elevated to forcing the individual to accept what the Bible very clearly says is wrong.

The early Christians faced the same kind of choice; worship Caesar or die. So it’s the same dance, just a different tune.

The irony is that eventually, the freedom Christians lose to speak in the marketplace is going to extend to those who so viciously oppose them.

But thankfully, no amount of judicial fiat kept Christianity in the closet in the first century and they won’t be able to do it in this century either.

What is here is the usurpation of 2,500 years of western civilization and the CA Constitution by tyrannical judges.

That's the thing. Satan, while he is the epitome of evil, isn't stupid. He's deluded. He thinks he can still win, even though he knows "the end of the book".

Your right and before it becomes hate speech, here are the FACTS.

The illusion that the homosexual lifestyle is a normal way of living has been successfully propagated by promoting a “victim” image for homosexual persons, and by the pseudo-science alleging a ‘gay” gene.

Of the reports alleging, or promising soon down the road, a “gay” gene, not a single one has survived scientific peer review. There is no “gay” gene.

On the other hand, the evidence does show that homosexual persons are indeed victims — but overwhelmingly of their own behavior, not that of others.

Typical homosexual behavior includes regular contact with fecal matter from oneself and from sexual partners, tragically reversing several centuries of learning about cleanliness, and thus several centuries of growing lifespan. Homosexual behavior makes no more sense than playing in the toilet.

All available evidence indicates that the lifespan of practicing homosexual persons is drastically shortened by their behavior. No reliable study indicates otherwise. The lifespan topic is taboo among homosexual advocates because the evidence is so damaging to their case.

This is a viable, acceptable lifestyle?

but they want special rights!

What many gays don't realize is that they are self-infecting.

The lining of their rectum (which is much more delicate than that of a vagina) is often ruptured during gay sex. The "receiving" partner then subsequently infects themself when fecal matter gets into the the open wound or lesion.

Pleasant, isn't it?

Do you think the schools or the media are getting this vital message out?

Nobody in the media dares bring the subject up, but regarding the Yearning For Zion families with the weeping mothers in their Laura Ingalls get-ups: If it turns out that there isn't any way of actually enforcing Texas' anti-polygamy or incest laws without violating the "civil rights" of the offenders, things may end up very much as they did in Lawrence v. Texas, in which the SCOTUS (as expressed in the 5-4 majority opinion of Justice Kennedy) decided that "Liberty presumes an autonomy of self that includes freedom of thought, belief, expression, and certain intimate conduct".

Remember that Lawrence was the long-sought opportunity for radical gays to find a way to overturn Bowers v. Hardwick, the 1986 decision that reaffirmed the Constitutional right of the state of Georgia to legislate sexual conduct (ironically, Georgia repealed the anti-sodomy statute well before Lawrence was heard by the Supreme Court). Both cases came about after the gratuitous prosecution of homosexual suspects (Mr. Bowers and Mr. Lawrence) caught in flagrante delicto as they were being sought for other non-sexual crimes. On the other hand, the raid of the YFZ ranch came about because of a 911 hoax, and despite evidence that something very wrong was going on, it may turn out that nothing will be done to stop what we know is happening.

As some people on this forum were denouncing the state of Texas for violating the rights of the YFZ families based on a false story (regardless of what was actually going on within that creepy white fortress) and cheering on the cultists to sue the overreaching nannies for mega-millions, I was hoping there was independent, legally discovered evidence on which prosecutions of self-described polygamists could proceed because I know that eventually, one of the Jeffs cult's attorneys will ask the question, "If you can't enforce your anti-polygamy and anti-incest laws without violating the rights set forth in Lawrence, how can they be Constitutional?"

Potentially, in a President Obama/veto-proof Demo Congress world, we may have gay marriage, plural marriage, and intrafamily marriage legalized a la Roe v. Wade and California's ridiculous (but nevertheless binding) In re Marriage Cases within eight years. Think that can't happen? I live in San Francisco, and know better.

OK, wise guy, I'm going to take you up on "what's next." Let's see if you've got the guts to take this to its logical conclusion, or if you bail out by ignoring my challenge, or respond with non-answers and/or more sarcasm.

If, in your opinion, people of the same sex ought to have the right to be married, I would like you to explain why...

These are issues the advocates of same-sex marriage won't seriously address because either 1) They don't want to admit they DON'T have an objection to them, or 2) They don't want to provide reasons why society should draw the line at certain type of relationships, because it undercuts their argument that those who draw the line at different points than they do ought to be ignored.

Don't chicken out.
