Obama Throws Wright Under the Bus (Finally)
Primetime Politics ^ | April 29, 2008 | Barack Obama

Posted on 04/29/2008 12:14:34 PM PDT by moderatewolverine

Speaking at a press conference today, Barack Obama finally tried to distance himself from his pastor, Rev. Jeremiah Wright. It appears Wright's "performance," as Obama called it, at the National Press Club finally put him over the edge. If he had done this at the start of the controversy, it may have saved him from the serious damage that is being done to his campaign by Wright's reappearance on the political scene.

This doesn't have the impact it could have had he just done it when Wright first surfaced.

I am warning everybody now. This latest dust up with Rev. Wright is all a coordinated setup by the Obama campaign staff!

Obama tried for the “It was all a mischaracterization of Rev. Wright. He’s a nice guy. I won’t denounce him.” That didn’t sell. His internal polling and focus groups showed that the public was not buying the story since Obama had been a loyal church member for 20 years. Obama was losing ground. And it would hurt him in November!

Obama needed to find a “quick exit”. But how do you denounce Wright when you have already refused to do so????? Well, you need Wright to say something even more outrageous and then denounce that. As Obama’s loyal counselor, mentor and Pastor who presided over his wedding and the baptism of his children, Rev. Wright was willing. So Pastor Jeremiah came out of hiding (where he had passed up some honorary awards) and calls a series of press conferences and issues some more outrageous comments.

Quick like a rabbit, Obama denounces the “latest statements”. He then denounces Sharpton. Then Obama calls a press conference to “answer the questions about Rev. Wright”. Gee. Would would have guessed?!?!?!?!?!?!

Thi is such an obvious sham, it is hilarious that anyone is buying into it! Obama merely wants to dispose of the Rev. Wright issue by denouncing him. But he needed a new provocation in order to justify it. And Wright gave him the opening. And undoubtedly they planned it together!

Gingrich is the funny one in all of this. He is asking, “Is Rev. Wright trying to undermine Obama”? Of course not! the Pastor is doing Obama a favor. Its a coordinated kabuki dance. Obama gets to dispose of Wright six months before the election and then refuse to discuss it till after the election. Then who do you think will be holding the bible when he is sworn in?

Why are you all missing this? Obama has the nomination locked. This is the final move to prepare for the general election. Dump WRight. Dump Sharpton. Dump Jesse. Then they all meet after the election and toss back a few scotches and call for women and cigars! Big con job on America! How else could Obama unload the “Rev. Wright scandal” from around his neck? He had to have a premise! So he asked Wright to fall on his sword, and Jeremiah complied!. Anyone buying into this is simply blind!

That is true, but Obama tends to be cautious.

I am of the mind set that this was all part of the plan after it didn’t go away as an issue.

The Obama people put a consultant group with Wright to help spin this.

This way Obama has the cover he needs and it takes it away as an issue.

I don’t think for one minute that Obama never heard this type of speech from Wright before.

At that time Obama assured us he would never disown Wright. Now the chickens from back then have come home to roost.

It’s too little, too late. Count Barakula had a stake driven thru the heart of his campaign by his pastor and he is toast. IMHO.

Too little too late. Besides, is this anyway to treat a favorite “uncle”??

You are right on target, and I do not think for one minute that he has thrown him under the bus.

Wright told Obama’s supporters that Obama had to say what he did because to get elected that what he needed to say.

He gave Obama cover.

See my prior posts where this very subject was broached as a conspiracy between Wright, Obama, Handlers and the Nation of Islam to fool left wing air head liberal voters.

Once the powers to be in Obamas camp realized that his elitist remarks in San Francisco had upset the proverbial Reagan Democrats a scorched earth policy was adopted.

I wonder if anyone outside of common sense FReepers see this as a scam?

If this was planned then my guess is it will be one of the worst mistakes ever made in American political history. I believe this has cost Obama the nomination. The super delgate backpedalling has not yet begun, but it will, and in earnest. When the dust settles, Hillary will be on the stage accepting the nomination.

Highly doubtful. You're giving the Obama campaign too much credit.

A much more likely explanation is that Wright is simply a big-mouthed opportunist cashing in on his fame.

Either way (though I posted early this morning the same thoughts as you have indicated)...it does not work for them. They probably figured they had to try it.

But let's say we take him at his word.

Today, Barack Hussein Obama indicated that he could indeed disown his long standing Uncle Wright...even though just a few weeks ago he said he could never do that.

Even though it stretches credibility to think that after 20+ years and so much close history together...after all, it was Obama who called Wright his mentor and spiritual advisor...that Obama could not have really "known" the real Jeremiah Wright, let's take him at his word that he did not.

My questions then are simple.

If, after 20+ years of a close relationship where it was clear to everyone else who Jeremiah Wright was, if after that long you so terribly misjudged the man...then please tell me Mr. Obama, who else have you misjudged so completely?

Who on your campaign staff? Who of your contributors? Who amongst your other close associates and friends?

More telling yet, Mr. Obama, Who will you so wholly misjudge in the future?

What leaders of nations? What members of your cabinet? What Judges you nominate?

The list could go on and on.

At this point I pray to God in Heaven that we will never have to find out the answer.

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH - OBAMA'S CIRCLE OF FRIENDS AND SUPPORT

THE AUDACITY OF TRUTH - BARACK HUSSEIN OBAMA

George Will wrote a column even before Obama declared his candidacy that this was Obama’s one chance to run and win as a fresh face. If so, it’s all or nothing for the Obama camp.

A put-up job? An awful lot a stake.

What I absolutely do not believe is that Jeremiah Wright tried to derail the Obama train in the interests of self-promotion. I don’t underestimate the intelligence of either of the two. Hillary underestimated Obama at first, to her detriment.

I dont think this was planned. Wright didnt like the mild “condemnation” Obama initially voiced. This talking tour Wright is on is payback for that. Fully throwing Wright under the bus now is something Obama will regret.

Maybe Wright is po’d because Obama did not run on his message. The ‘Black Church’ has some soul-searching to do for its message for this Century. It’s own Vatican II.

I agree it is probably staged to stop the damage to Obama. It seemed like bad soap opera acting to me.

Yeah, there’s been so much winking and nodding going on among all concerned that I’m surprised they haven’t all been hauled in for “symptoms” of some kind or other.
