Clinton’s superdelegates rejecting pleas to switch By Alexander Bolton Posted: 02/26/08 08:08 PM [ET]

House Democrats supporting Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (N.Y.) are rejecting Speaker Nancy Pelosi’s (Calif.) plea that lawmakers not overrule voters should they be in a position to decide who will be the Democratic presidential nominee.

Acrimony gathering inside the party has spurred some Democrats to begin discussing reforming the nominating process and perhaps getting rid of superdelegates altogether.

Many Clinton backers representing districts that voted for Sen. Barack Obama (D-Ill.) say they are not likely to change their mind should the contest come down to the superdelegates — the 796 Democratic lawmakers, governors and officials who may determine the nominee.

Those lawmakers say they should be able to vote however they want, even if it means giving the nod to the candidate who wins fewer delegates from more than 50 election contests conducted prior to the nominating convention. One member said the only way he wouldn’t vote for Clinton is if he died.

“I am a delegate, I’m a supporter of Hillary, I’m supporting who I’m supporting,” said Rep. Diane Watson (D-Calif.), even though 62 percent of the Democratic voters in her district backed Obama.

Such devotion worries some party officials who say record turnout and excitement over Democratic candidates could fizzle if voters feel their voices do not count.

Democrats supporting Obama, who has a lead among pledged delegates, agree with Pelosi that superdelegates should follow the “decision of the American people” and line up behind whichever candidate has amassed the most pledged delegates by convention time.

Thomas B. Edsall, one of the huffies, makes the audacious claim that Clinton Camp Presses Super Delegates Not To Take Sides. I think the story is a bit more complicated than that, i.e. Hillary's pressing super delegates to take sides, just as Obama has been doing, and they've been paying 'em off to do it.

Pelosi is a Clinton sock-puppet, as is the "Nevada Chihuahua", Reid..........the Clintons must have some "big stuff" on both of them.........

But, it looks like the Clintons are not going to be able to bribe, threaten, blackmail and eliminate people, while the MSM looks the other way, in order to achieve their evil objectives.............it doesn't seem to be working this time........

The beauty of all of it, is that the very person that is putting it to them.........comes from the group of people that the Clintons, and the other socialists demonrats have been walking all over for decades, Black Americans..........Karma, my Freeping fellow Freepers, Karma.........

:}

Superdelegates exist because Dhimmicrats don’t trust the voters, even in their own party, to vote the “right way”.

Clinton HAS to steal the nomination.

If she doesn't, the cult of Obama will overwhelm McLame.
And if she does, the base will be so fractured that they'll likely stay home.

She won’t.
I honestly do not see how she can. I mean, I know how she could do it, by playing games with the super delegates, but it won’t happen.
Listening to my (few) liberal friends foam rabidly at the mouth the last 7 years over election issues, rank-and-file Democrats are not in the mood for election shenanigans. The DNC has to be aware of what will happen if they allow her to steal this. It guarantees that they will lose the election in November.
Hillary Clinton can want this, need this, think she deserves this and is owed this, but at the end of the day, she won’t get it.
The DNC is going to go with the person they think can be elected.
They know that person isn’t Hillary Clinton.
Which all means that McCain needs to get moving.

YES...more popcorn...Democrats fighting is RICH! The Clintons grumbled that minorities were suppressed in the vote...got MORE ghetto and barrio voting places...NOW Osama has punted Hillary’s backside all over the place!

But a grim thought arises...should Osama be denied the nomination...RIOTS COULD OCCUR and deaths that might rival the “Rodney King” Fiasco. Could go beyond muttering jaywalkers with underwear showing to French style unrest?
Every year in France the “Car Burning Contest” gets BIGGER numbers. And bus riders have “wheel envy”.

This is just a set up so Hillary can come out and “gift” her folks to Obama in a show of “unity”

They aren't elected to follow the lead of their constituents, it's so they can do what ever they want. To hades with the American People and what they vote for.

Typical democrats.

Our system wasn't set up to have 796 elite bureaucrats choose the President.

The whole point of the super delegats is so that the insiders could veto the primary voters.

Remember these are the insiders who think AMNESTY is a-ok.

Nancy Pelosi is saying she wants to change the rules in the middle of the game.

No, I think she's just trying to engage in a little moral suasion.

I doubt it will work, though.

Hmm if the Democrats don’t want the superdelegates, maybe the GOP could borrow them and use them to nominate a conservative candidate for the GOP.
