“anti-American bigots”

The McCainiacs would say that you have it backwards: the real bigots are anyone objecting to the USA, and the Republic of Texas, being sold like sides of beef.

Interesting. We keep being told by the open borders Freepers here that there is no such highway being built, yet there are hearings being held on it.

Precisely the opposite. We keep being told by the NIMBY-types that they keep hearing that there is no such highway being built, then they post the map from NASCO's own website. It's rather humorous.

But, but, President Bush has told me that this whole thing is nothing more than a conspiracy theory pushed by wackos. He wouldn’t lie to me would he?

If we had a secure border, Mexico truck regulation and citizen involvement people might feel differently. Our governor has already decided and started without us though.

"I'd like to see a show of hands here of anybody that approves of this corridor," Zora said. "Is there anyone in this room who approves of this corridor? Raise your hands if you approve of it."

People with a vague desire for improved roads seldom take the time to attend public meetings. Generally only those strongly in favor of or opposed to a particular project do so. And most of them have personal financial interests involved.

Another article about the Houston meeting on Feb 12th:

Houston Chronicle: State corridor hearing echoes small-town concerns

Tuesday's audience at a public hearing on the project numbered only 233, compared with more than 1,000 in tiny Bellville, but they were just as opposed to the idea.

When the hearing adjourned shortly after 9 p.m., not one of the 49 speakers was in favor of the plan.

This is part of the I69/US59 improvement around Texarkana (technically 259):

It used to be a small, two lane road just a few years ago similar to this:

Is this the road that is NOT the NAFTA Superhighway?

Just trying to stay on the same page with the Official Terminology.

They're being sarcastic when they say that they keep hearing that there is no such highway. They're fully aware that there is one.

I’ve seen the same sign many places along 59 from the Rio Grande Valley to Arkansas. I travel it a couple of times a year to visit grandkids in the valley.

Correction, previous are from the Arkansas side, but the change and roadway that was US59 looks very similar on the Texas side.

I drive 59 (to I30) about once a month to go to Little Rock and I am amazed how quickly they are expanding 59, especially North of Atlanta (a lot slower progress between Atlanta and Marshall, it seems to have stalled around Linden TX155 area.)

I just don’t see the sarcasm. And so many people are serious when they say it that any sarcasm is lost.

You know, I never used to believe in the Trans Texas corridor conspiracy until I started reading the Illuminati news and found out this is just one part of the International Banker conspiracy to control the world.

And you know who is behind that, of course.

IIRC 59 in Houston has been or is being widened to 10 lanes. South of Houston is divided four lane all the way. It already looks like interstate with the exception of a few smaller towns.
