Maybe we will just have to win over even more of the center and cut the right out of the GOP entirely. A public disassociation of the extremists, particularly the anti-immigrant jihadis, will the best course of action.

You people are right. The GOP has learned its lesson from 2006: the party cannot count on the votes of the fringe so we will have to forge a new coalition - the McCain coalition. Good luck wandering in the wilderness for the next ...oh, forever or so.

Sooner or later your true colors had to come through. There is the McCain message in a nut shell.

"Conservatism is extreme. Open borders is our future."

Let me make sure I understand you correctly.

Are you saying that if I am AGAINST "ILLEGAL" immigration, if I am FOR, the enforcement of existing laws, that I am an extremist?

Your attempt at smearing patriotic, conservative Americans, is nothing more than an obvious LIE. We are against ILLEGALS, who have no right to be in this country, and the employers who illegally hire them. That makes us "anti-Hispanic" in your eyes which you equate to terrorist "jihadis."

You and your ilk are traitors to all things conservative, patriotic, or American.

You again?!

Oh, I see. It's a you people "thing". Is that it?

I don't expect anything that I'm going to say will snap anybody out of their own disillusioned version of reality, but it should be more obvious as time goes on that the "you people" out there simply do NOT support John McCain.

I fully expect there to be a lot of name calling, weeping, gnashing of teeth, and yes...even well wishes as we wander in the wilderness for "forever or so". But what about those opposite us on the other side of the conservative split? What about those who will support McCain? Do you think there's going to be some grand awakening after we collectively get our heads handed to us in November? Do you believe that there will be someplace to take refuge? Are you going to get that much satisfaction in hissing at us after the fact for the badness that we brought upon us all?

I'm still amazed that the McCain-Bots and the "Anybody But Hillary" crowd can't seem to avert what they MUST know is coming. They're driven by fear, and yet , knowing that we're going to ensure that their worst fear comes true, they plunge headlong into the false hope that there's simply no way that we can be right about this. Even a stupid person will attempt to duck if they have a little advanced warning that you are going to strike them. But these cowards that vote GOP out of fear are simply beyond my understanding.

A coward's existence must be a terrible thing. We will NOT fear, nor will we be driven by fear, or by those who are, or even by knowing what the results of our actions will be!

The GOP is in the throws of death. We're watching it now, in spite of people who blindly claim that it isn't so.

Make no mistake though...we won't "wander" in any wilderness, nor are we "fringe". We've known what we were going to do before this massive setup by the GOP came down on those who simply didn't realize it. We haven't changed, nor will we change. Deal with it.

You keep preaching for Juan McPain, and I suspect you won't last long here...especially if you get pushy about it.

More pontificating from the self-righteous, control freak, power hungry ‘center’. ‘Center’ by you and your ilk’s self-anointed, self-appointed definition that is.

Which is just a revomiting of the old ‘centrist’ scam: declare yourself to be the middle, call everyone else extreme, and demand that you deserve power because of that. Let’s call it for what it is: the country club, blue blood, limousine liberal, rights for me but not for you, go along to get along, business as usual, good-old-boy network.

That can’t be any more obvious than in your ‘analysis’ of the 2006 election. The GOP lost because it became the other party of big govt and fiscally irresponsible, and beholden to special interests. It lost votes of anyone who wants fiscal responsibility and integrity in govt regardless of their overall place in the spectrum: left, right, AND center.

Your tin plate chest beating only shows what a paper tiger the country club set is. You don’t need us ‘extremists’ while you demand we get in line and vote for you and the Democrat wannabe John Arnold Schwarzenegger McCain.

Sorry pal, the king has no clothes. Your sad little candidate is going to go down in the dust, and then we are going to rebuild for 2010. Because the future of the GOP is with the conservatives.

So go ahead and try and build your little coalition, one dedicated to drifting-ever-left and growing government for the good-old-boys power and enrichment. It will fall flat on it’s face. I’ll enjoy watching the little pissy pants, temper tantrum throwing, meglomaniac ‘center’ as it’s left to the dustbin of history.

If we “extremists” are so irrelevant, why are you here every day exhorting to to get behind McCain?

Throughout the Western world, this is what has been happening. The formerly right-wing parties have been marginalizing and then purging their most conservative members to concentrate on catering to "moderates". The result has been the same everywhere. The party loses support and also loses interest in fighting against Islamic Jihadists. If your plan of action is carried out, then in a decade the GOP will be down to about 150 House seats and 32 Senate seats, and both parties will be calling for cutting the defense budget to fund welfare programs, notwithstanding McCain's militarism.

The GOP has learned its lesson from 2006: the party cannot count on the votes of the fringe so we will have to forge a new coalition - the McCain coalition. Good luck wandering in the wilderness for the next ...oh, forever or so.

We might as well roam in the wilderness. Why remain in a party that will never again control either house of Congress?

BTW, any opinion on when the GOP will again control the California legislature, now that the state has filled up with your kind of people? How about never?

Interesting...The winning Reagan coalition was positioned to the right of center, more so to the right, and avoided the extremism of the far right (such as abolish the IRS, or the Dept of Education, etc)...The McCain coalition is more center left than center right, and McCain dislikes conservatives and abhors the far right...

But to many of us he is too far to the left of center for us to be comfortable with...Worse, he was nearly a turncoat to his party when he explored joining the Dems to be Kerry’s running mate...Imagine, patriot McCain running with
anti-Viet vet Kerry ?...what was he thinking ?? He needs to move to the center and more to the right and make up with the conservatives who form a large base of the Rep party...again- how is he thinking ?
