Anti-McCain forces rally on the Web
Wash Times ^ | 2/13/08 | Steve Dinan

The competition for anti-John McCain Web sites is so stiff that those looking to register new ones say the best names have already been snatched up.

"Virtually every one we thought of was taken," said Robert Shoemaker, who said his site RepublicansAgainstMaverickMcCain.com will go active this week. "The first one we wanted to do was Republicans Against McCain just short and sweet. That wasn't available, and we worked all the way around different labels we could use, none of them were available."

In the end Mr. Shoemaker, who held signs at last weekend's Conservative Political Action Conference protesting Mr. McCain's immigration policy, said he and his partners settled on the somewhat cumbersome name in order to preserve a version of the acronym RAM.

At last check StopMcCain.com, NoWayMcCain.com, ConservativesAgainstMcCain.com and RepublicansAgainstMcCain.com are all taken, as is IHateMcCain.com and the pointed VietnamVeteransAgainstJohnMcCain.com.

Nope! For if you don't get behind him, the regret will be to you, your wallet, your family and your future....

That is all we get from the McCain crowd, you got a voodoo doll as well.

Therefore, if Mccain is elected, they will side with him on ever issue - open borders, global warming taxes, fairness doctrine, etc.

Republicans in Congress haven't sided with GWB on open borders. What makes you think they would change their minds for a President McCain? Or HRC or Obama for that matter? Your conclusion is counter-intuitive because it's wrong.

Paulestinians rallied on the web for their Great Appeaser, too. Didn't do them much good.

John McCain is our nominee. Best get behind him now and help defeat the Democrats. Anyone who insists on trying to derail McCain's campaign will find that avenues of opportunity will suddenly be closed off to them. Conservatives who cost McCain the presidency will be reviled and exiled following the election.

<<What is a mother to do, my old saying when I was in the service was “there are no good deals, just varying degrees of bad deals”.<<

That has been my position since I voted for Nixon. This one is different. No way, no how. I am no longer repulican, but I would rather see the democratic party harmed more than the Republican party. And with the three choices available, whichever party” candidate wins will be the party most damaged.

<<What is a mother to do, my old saying when I was in the service was “there are no good deals, just varying degrees of bad deals”.<<

That has been my position since I voted for Nixon. This one is different. No way, no how, can I vote for McCain. Nor can I vote for the democrats. I will sit this one out. I am no longer repulican, but I would rather see the democratic party harmed more than the Republican party. And with the three candidate choices available, whichever party” candidate wins will be the party most damaged.

A lot of those domains were probably bought by McCain’s own campaign.

You can take McCain and his baggage. I am not going to stand by and watch the GOP destroy itself and become like the post Thatcher Tory party in Britain.

Thanks. It seems we have many Freepers who do not care. Time to “close ranks”, they say. LOL

Maybe we will just have to win over even more of the center and cut the right out of the GOP entirely. A public disassociation of the extremists, particularly the anti-immigrant jihadis, will the best course of action.

You people are right. The GOP has learned its lesson from 2006: the party cannot count on the votes of the fringe so we will have to forge a new coalition - the McCain coalition. Good luck wandering in the wilderness for the next ...oh, forever or so.

1/2 a conservative, and with the most important the WOT and the tax issues, is better than what? Ask the hard core that question and all you get back is BS.

not true. You must not be reading very many posts. Even in this small thread, it has been brought up that supporting the number of new illegals will have to increase our taxes. But it has been repeated endlessly on other threads that the Republicans in Congress will be much more likely to oppose a Democratic president. As they did with Clinton. However, with a liberal Republican in office, it puts them in a very awkward position. They have to choose between openly defying their president and party, with the consequence of a reduction of reelection funds, and openly following his liberal agenda, which is political suicide with respect to constituents. Some will choose to follow, as the Republican Senate did with Bush and amnesty. Some will oppose, as the House did with their enforcement bill. But those representatives were treated poorly, called names, and not supported at reelection time.

if you think the party is fractured now -- after having a liberal/moderate RINO in office, just wait until McCain has been there a while. Conservatism will be no more.

This is actually too bad that there are so many. They need to band together in order to show strength and unity.

We aren’t the only ones who are working on that, thank goodness.

Not by a long shot, which is why we are getting a full court press from McCainiacs on this site, many of whom just recently registered. They know the score. Their boy Juan is weak water to begin with. They can't carry his sorry, backstabbing liberal butt without conservatives stomping on their principles again on the way to the voting booth to support him.

John McCain is a very selfish man, and on a Wednesday morning in November of this year, he will regret that.

We will, but he won't.

I have closed ranks. I formed up with the conservatives while the GOP is rallying around Napoleon and heading for Waterloo.

Based on the voters...I don’t think the anti-McCain Freepers understand how woefully unpersuasive THEY are.....they seem to be a acting like an mob...with each one trying to out-shout the other. Simple hate speech. They have become their own audience....no one else wants to hear it anymore.

It’s time for calm analytical reasoning. See prior postings from Bill Bennett and Newt.
