China announced today the recall of 5 million pounds of lead. There were reports that it might be contaminated with toys meant for American children.
100% agreement with you.
I thought this was a bunch of hype until I discovered the Chinese were producing counterfeit Harry Potter books.
But If we dont buy from China that would mean that the shelves at WalMart will be bare!!
I’ve been telling anyone who will listen the same thing for years. Chinese products are dangerous to your physical and economic health, and doom on all of the companies that have off-shored their manufacturing facilities to China, threatening the lives of Americans for the sake of profits. Doom on them and China!
It’s made me finally stop & check the labels of everything I buy. I was looking for pet treats the other day - probably 90% of them were made in China. I found one that proudly displayed the American flag, and was labeled “Made in the USA”.
I’m tired of this crap - we conservatives have proven that we can organize and accomplish things - let’s have a China boycott. Our government won’t do anything about it - it’s time for the people to take this problem on themselves.
I just hope the missile defense and military technology that Klinton sold them follow the same quality control and high standards as the rest of the crap that country produces.
Drive a Chinese made car? You may as well just play Russian roulette!
Purchase products that are 100% MADE IN THE USA!
Continue to take a stand and be a voice for our pets and our loved ones! Do everything you can to boycott goods made by China and this includes ingredients made in China, Chinese plant processing and Chinese exporting!
Our animals couldnt speak for themselves.
Were they the canaries of the food chain?
We have to protect our families now.
BOYCOTT CHINA!!!!!!
Here is a list of a few items made in USA.

I lump the business decision-makers that got us here -- suffering the ill effects of deceptive manufacturing practices in China -- with the decision-makers that profit from illegal immigration.
"Manufacturing in the US is too expensive" = "Illegals do the jobs Americans won't do"
With a wink-wink nudge-nudge about what is really happening in their businesses.
The manufacturing oversight and standard of living for workers that were important last century in the US, may be deemed valuable again for products and services coming from other countries in this century.
Takes strong people to get past the "Screw everyone else so I can get mine" mentality that motivates many busines decisions.
This is why I buy nothing from Harbor freight. If I need tools I purchase made in America brands. It costs a bit more, but I feel in the long run its worth it to not “bust my knuckles” when a piece of junk Chinese wrench rounds off on a nut and slips.

I used to hear this same mantra about Japanese products. I don’t really care about the lead per se, most people over the age of 30 grew up with lead paint and we’re all still here aren’t we. This crap is simply the result of the U.S. ratcheting up the pressure on the Chinese to devalue their currency. Chinese are refusing U.S. beef. It’ll all blow over folks, try to control your overzealous nationalism ok.
Ok, my flame suit is on now, lol
Can anyone 30 years ago have imagined that such a sentence would ever be written in earnest? Even the most fervent Maoist in 1977 would probably never have written such a statement. Yet today such a statement is considered unexceptionable.
The ONLY Presidential candidate who has made the unfair and dangerous trade with China a vital centrepiece of his campaign is Duncan Hunter.
Not entirely correct... but it is close to the truth. The value we place on the lives of (already born) people is far higher than the value the Chinese tend to place on it. This shouldn't be too surprising, though. Their nation is almost exactly the same size as ours, and yet they have four times the population with less arable land (mountains cover more than a third of their territory). Until recently, a large percentage of the population lived hand-to-mouth. There's a reason that every part of every animal is used in cooking (eg, cow stomach is very commonly found in most restaurants). The loss of a few mouths competing for food had some benefits to it over there. Here, there are typically fewer advantages to losing neighbors.
Another point to make: the Chinese have not had a sustained period of peace and prosperity for generations. That is yet another reason why they are revelling in their current economic boom... but many are waiting for the next major upheaval, and are trying to maximize their profits and advantages now so they will better be able to weather the next storm. (As Tiannenmen Square showed in 1989, big things can begin to happen at any time. There a riots daily in the rural areas, even now.) Combine a moderately lower regard for individual life, a desperation to prepare for a probable revolution, inexperience with capitalism, a nasty habit of system-wide corruption, and a history of incredibly poor quality control, and you cannot really be TOO surprised to find anti-freeze being used as a toothpaste additive. I'm not saying it should be overlooked or accepted... only that it shouldn't be a major shock coming from that cauldron.
BTW... Usually, when I get into discussions about "the Chinese" (or "the Americans" or "the French", etc), I have to remind people that there's a huge distinction between the people and the government in any philosophical situation... but it's not as important a distinction in this case, sadly.
Actually, they are just being resold on ebay. What I'm concerned about however, is stuff not properly labeled, containing ANY ingredients coming from China. That makes it impossible to avoid potentially lethal stuff.
I bet if stuff was less expensive, less people would buy from China...
And let’s deal with these bastards on a macro level too, shall we...

Sorry, but in a capitalistic society, it’s the corporations duty to produce their products for the cheapest cost possible regardless of the “price” of doing such. It’s only the stockholders that matter, right? Why produce something in the US for $0.10 a piece that you eventually sell for $5 to wholesalers whenyou can get it from China for $0.05?
That is what we always hear from the non-thinking capitalists. It’s finally come back to roast as their kids are playing with lead lined toys and brushing their teeth with anti-freeze toothpaste and wearing poisoned clothes. Perhaps they should have thought about the obvious repercussions of abandoning their fellow US Citizens for the almighty dollar.
But what do I know?
I agree with this one-hundred percent. We have a carton and one-half of Talipia fillets in our freezer which are going to the dump because they have "China" on reverse side of the box. We've eaten it before and it's delicious but it's just too big a risk. We're replacing it with Louisiana Catfish.
Even children cloths are drench in formaldehyde from China
they say to prevent meld dew
It was on the News report in New Zealand and the US is checking now.
Good luck that. (BTW, look on the bottom of your mouse and see where it was made.)
When we buy thing now days even if it says manufacture in the US where the ingredients come from?
might be China
This situation is reminding me of the scenario in Tom Clancy's The Bear and The Dragon where Americans rejected everything made in China and caused a collapse of the Chinese economy. It could happen.
What I don’t understand is why the President or the house step up to the plate and deal with this.
Too much campaign money involved?
The Clintons are famous for taking China money!
What about Nancey or Harry?
Ah yes, but it’s CHEAP crap, and that’s all that matters to US companies and free traitors that don’t care about anything else.

Important distinction, and he's right.
Always has been, always will be.
We ought to get into a shooting all-out war with them NOW, while we still have a chance.
I went to Penny’s and Macy’s to look for some new dress shoes. Some 95% were made in China, by slave girls chained to their machines for 16 hours per day.
I told the clerk at Macy’s that I was interested in buying shoes not made in China. She found one pair made in Italy, and another made in Malaysia. She said more people are commenting about the “made in China” label, and are willing to pay more for non-Chinese shoes.
I agree that the Chinese have a different take on the value of life than we in the west have.
“But”, let’s not loose sight of the fact that western corporations doing business in China have some accountability in these product problems too.
As an example, why didn’t Mattel (a western corporation)have proper incoming inspections on materials being introduced into third party assembly and manufacturing companies building toys in their behalf? Typically, criteria is written in the T&C’s (terms and conditions of the contract. These T&C’s should have specified that no lead based paint be used. Then, what’s known as “articles of inspection” for incoming materials specify the nature of sampling and inspecting that should take place to ensure these T&C’s are being complied with. Last but not least, Mattel should have had their own engineering and quality control personnel inside these facilities ensuring that process’s, procedures, quality, etc are all being complied with. In other words, protecting Mattel’s best interests. Obviously, Mattel was derelict in all of these critical but very basic operational procedures.
Excellent post!
How can we avoid buying Chinese crap? My Apple iPhone? Made in China. My raincoat? Made in China. The list goes on and on. We have outsourced everything to the Chicoms.

I recently sought to purchase a common household implement and found that every new one, in every store, was made in China. So I went to the tiny bother of finding an old one (better I might add) made in the USA...on ebay.
Every time you buy something, you are taking a political stand. It may not exactly tip the scales, but neither does a vote. Do it anyway! Stand up for America.
Ah yes. I just love the delicate scent of the rice flowers of springtime.
Here Here!
I am now China obsessed. I check everything I buy. Some items don’t matter but a lot do.
You know the “American Doll” collection that all young girls are wild about these days. All of the “American” dolls are made in China. It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.
Thanks for a great post!
It really is time to have a full boycott on all Chinese goods - they are not our friends and knowingly produce a lot of worthless garbage that is intended to harm Americans.
Buy American!
Wondering where our sodas and Juices are produced China or Mexico.
I read something interesting in Mexico they make Coke Cola with Sugar and not corn syrup taste like the old time coke.

“Noh Bai Dung!!”
You had me at “Hello”.
Lead paint sticks better and lasts longer.
Don't eat paint. Teach kids not to eat paint.
You eat much paint lately?
And beware of those supporting the Chinese Communist.
We are surrounded by traitors that seek profit and low wage labor regardless of consequences.
