Global Warming Bureaucrat Hansen Lashes Out at Critics
American Thinker ^ | aug 20, 2007 | Christopher Alleva

...

Last week, Hansen, NASA's lead scientist on global warming, penned a rather strange ad hominem attack against critics that questioned the validity of his work in the wake of corrections prompted by Steve McIntyre at Climate Audit http://www.climateaudit.org/

Under most circumstances, it is inappropriate for a Federal Agency Administrator to pen such a highly policitical polemic, although Hansen has a long history of doing just that. Rather than respond with a proper full acknowledgement of his error and a promise to uncover other potential flaws which may be lurking in his data and analyis, his technical explanation is interspersed with swipes at his critics, whom he sees involved in a sinister conspiracy to discredit the impeccable science he claims to represent.

He accuses Fox News and The Washington Times of "going bananas" over the "flaw" in the computer program. The Times and Fox have run a single editorial and a story on the correction respectively, this can hardly be characterized as going bananas. In fact, as we have amply documented on this website, the media has actively downplayed this story especially compared to how they hyped the original findings in 2005 and 2006. Either Hansen has poor powers of observation or he is being disingenuous.

Al Gore and his Chicken Littles are deeply saddened. The wheels are coming off their socialist scam.

Oz has had the curtain pulled back on him.

Wonder what “crisis” they’ll invent from whole cloth next?

Going "bananas" ???

Obviously a protodarwinian racial slur. I think I'll sue.

This is what happens when a problem becomes a cause celeb,This guy will enhance any data to be accepted into the Global Warming circle of arrogant pontificators. Of course to dare to point out the slightest error is heresy.

Several differences between Churchill and Hansen:

1. Churchill only stole his own salary; Hansen’s malfeasance is in the hundreds of millions in terms of budget, and potentially in the hundreds of billions depending on what economic straightjackets his lies are used to force the economy into.

2. Churchill only stole from the citizens of a single state; Hansen steals from every taxpayer in America.

3. Churchill was generally tittered at in the press; Hansen receives full coverup protection by the Mainstream Treason Press.

4. Churchill is the kind of buffoon who is easily recognizable, even to the buffoons who run the media; Hansen is the kind of buffoon who fits right in with the buffoons who run the media, and thus earns their respect.

Seriously, Hansen is an embarrassment to NASA and responsible scientists. NASA has little if any, “adult supervision.” The agency is more concerned with meeting informal unwritten diversity quotas than responsible management. Otherwise Hansen would have been reassigned to a position outside of the political limelight, like being in charge of advance planning and reporting directly to the Administrator in downtown Washington, D. C. But IMO, like for other political hacks in government positions, the NASA management is concerned that they will be called into endless Oversight Hearings by the Democratic majority if they attempt to discipline the good Doctor Hansen.

Great link. From the linked article: Since the break-up of the USSR, the number of weather stations in the world has declined by half. Many of them used to be in cold areas. The scientists who compile global averages presumably try to take this into account - although in light of some of the above stories you have to wonder just how well they succeed.

Since Hansen relies on global data to argue that the his U.S. errors are insignificant, it would be interesting to see what he has done to compensate for the disproportionately substantial loss of data from the very cold Russian land mass.

He’s in a taxpayer funded position. Is it really his job to be another poster-boy for the global warming fanatics?

A democrat congress discipline him?

The AGW/democrats/socialists are ALREADY using Hanson as their primary example of how Bush has been “anti-science” and are “re-writing” science by “requesting” Hanson review his political statements with the WH!

Hansen was one of the guys who started it all - meeting with Bush & Cheney and calling for quick government action.

But he had the famous graph (Al Gore uses it a lot) - with a direct correlation of CO2 and temperature - going back a gazillion years.

Trouble is - the temperature rise comes BEFORE the CO2 rise.

A couple of years ago, I read his article and kept staring at the graph - ‘cause I just didn’t get it. Others had the same problem as I did - but fortunately dug deeper.

Then the hockey stick graph was also exposed with gross errors.

Not before the damage was done. Everyone things what was originally reported - not as was eventually corrected or explained. Those who "squeaked" were labeled

So the historic trends are wrong, the hockey stick was wrong, now the average NASA temperatures are wrong. What’s left?

The computer models ?? Say it ain't so!! Not the models!!

Looks like he’s on the roof, checking his NOAA-approved temperature sensors. Just making sure they’re positioned directly in front of the air conditioner exhausts.
