We've Replaced Rushdie In Hiding (Mark Steyn On Western Dhimmitude Submission Alert)
Orange County Register ^ | 06/24/2007 | Mark Steyn

Posted on 06/24/2007 4:40:16 AM PDT by goldstategop

Khomeini figured: Why import the false ideologies of a failing civilization? Doesn't it make more sense to export Islamism to the dying West?

And, for a guy dismissed by most of us as crazy, Khomeini made a lot of sense. The Rushdie fatwa established the ground rules: The side that means it gets away with it. Mobs marched through Britain calling for the murder of a British subject – and, as a matter of policy on the grounds of multicultural sensitivity, the British police shrugged and looked the other way.

One reader in England recalled one demonstration at which he asked a constable why the "Muslim community leaders" weren't being arrested for incitement to murder. The officer told him to "f--- off, or I'll arrest you." Genuine "moderate Muslims" were cowed into silence, and pseudo-moderate Muslims triangulated with artful evasiveness. Sir Iqbal Sacranie, who went on to become leader of the most prominent British Muslim lobby group, mused about the Rushdie fatwa: "Death is perhaps too easy."

In 1989 Salman Rushdie went into hiding under the protection of the British police. A decade later he decided he did not wish to live his life like that and emerged from seclusion to live a more or less normal life. He learned the biggest lesson of all – how easy it is to be forced into the shadows. That's what's happening in the free world incrementally every day, with every itsy-bitsy nothing concession to groups who take offense at everything and demand the right to kill you for every offense. Across two decades, what happened to Rushdie has metastasized, in part because of the weak response in those first months. "Death is perhaps too easy"? Maybe. But slow societal suicide is easier still.

The upshot over the past's Islamofascist uproar over the British Government's knighting of Salman Rushdie is the latter is now free. In contrast, the West has been forced to surrender its freedom to murderers and savages, As Mark Steyn might well put it but didn't say it, if we're going to be dhimmis, we're all better off being dead.

"Show me just what Mohammed brought that was new, and there you will find things only evil and inhuman, such as his command to spread by the sword the faith he preached." - Manuel II Palelologus

“officer told him to “f-— off, or I’ll arrest you.””

In America, after they do another attack, it’ll be ‘f-— off, or I’ll kill you’ if people try to do something about the problem. Our ‘protectors’ will turn on us in defense of the islamics.

Steyn is brilliant as usual. He boils it down and and throws it out!

And here we are in the USA putting foot baths in public places, forcing an entire midwestern town to listen to a public PA system blaring muslem prayers four times a day in decibels equaling the storm siren.

Such rubbish!

Sooner or later we are going to have to give the muzzies the jihad they so desperately want.
And this time, we’ll finish the job.

The Rushdie fatwa established the ground rules: The side that means it gets away with it.

And...the victor gets to write the history book. To really lose a war means "THE END" of life as you knew it.

"But, if we can't do much about freedom of expression in Iran and Saudi Arabia, we could at least do our bit to stop Saudi-Iranian standards embedding themselves in the West."

This bears repeating a thousand times if needed until it becomes embedded into the brains of each and every Westerner. It is not just speech that is at risk but our entire way of life.

Not nearly as eloquent as Steyn, I've given my own perspective on this issue from where I sit and I hope you all will take the time to read it and let me know what you think. I consider it one of my bests. Thanks.

Aspiring to write like Steyn is a noble aim. Read it I will.

What would Reagan say about all of this ?

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KIxlsr3UUkY

Reagan “A Rendezvous With Destiny” speech

With the exception of a few cold war words. Doesnt it feel like he was giving this speech last night about current events ?

This is a speech people need to hear now more than ever.

It fits right along with the War on Terror (Iran, Iraq). The 1000 years of darkness is right in front of us if we dont step up.

You wish. It will take at the very minimum an multi city nuclear attack in the United States, and even then I don’t think the United States or any other Western nation would do that much. We would certainly never declare war on Islam.

The West has a death wish, and radical Muslims know it and will exploit it.

So many of our problems with Iran today arise from not doing anything about our problems with Iran yesterday.

For evil to win, it is only necessary for Jimmy Carter to be considered a role model.

...or we can stand firm and resolute in our commitment to moral absolutism, human dignity, individual freedom, social justice and the sanctity of life. The choice is ours.

This is, of course, all well and good.

However, whilst we're standing firm in respect to moral abolutism, etc. while islamics are cutting our heads off and making huge inroads into our already illegal alien overcrowded nation, won't we have to take steps that border on extreme?

To think that we can sit self-rightouslessly by while these godless readers of the meanderings of a sick-minded, Bible plagerizing pervert is not too clever.

We're going to have to fight these sick-os on their own soil and get them the hell off ours!
