www.trentlott.com -- Michelle Malkin

***update: Rush on Lott--"You've got Republicans talking about talk radio like liberals talk about talk radio. That tells you something." Yes, it does. It tells you that the Republican Party is in deep, deep doo-doo. Speaking of doo-doo, the literal kind apparently turned up in the Capitol today. How fitting.***

Reader Jerry e-mailed me this morning after seeing Trent Lott's bashing of conservative talk radio:

I was going to write Trent Lott and let him know how I felt, so I typed in TrentLott.com and it took me to, are you ready for this, Moveon.Org. No joke. Indeed, it looks like some savvy nutroots-er snapped up Lott's eponymous domain name. Type in www.trentlott.com and it redirects you to the nutroots' front page.

How appropriate. It is most definitely time for Trent Lott to Move On. Allah excoriates Lott's contempt for the conservative grass-roots and their most powerful medium:

Question: What kind of political instinct would identify the one spot on the media spectrum controlled by his constituents as a “problem” that needs to be dealt with? Answer: The same kind of political instinct that believes this bill is going to guarantee his party millions of Hispanic votes for decades to come. His comment here is the logical conclusion of the grand betrayal that this bill and the secretive maneuvering behind it represents — not just ignoring the wishes of the base, not just expressing hostility towards it and/or impugning its motives and integrity (Lott also falsely claims that critics “don’t even know what’s in the bill”), but actually moving against it by threatening to neuter its media mouthpiece. Trent Lott and his ilk are on a suicide mission. Will they bring the GOP--and the country--down without a fight?

Like Laura Ingraham says: Save your country now.

A top inside Hill source e-mailed me a call to arms from inside the Beltway bunker. Read it and act, if you still care:

Senate Immigration Update

All indication is that Harry Reid has chosen to resume consideration of immigration sometime next week, possibly as early as Wednesday. It is his folly – a curious political choice designed to avoid the "do-nothing" label he so richly deserves.

But as much as he should be blamed personally for choosing to bring the bill back, it is the Republican leadership and Republican "grand bargainers" who are deserving of America's contempt. Grand bargainers Graham, Kyl, Martinez and McCain made their deal with the devil a long time ago. And now, after a week of deal-making and arm-twisting, Senator Lott and McConnell have joined forces with them and with Democrats to pull together the 60 votes needed to pass an immigration bill that not only has no chance of working, but undermines our nation's rule of law, damages our national security and will cost billions of dollars.

They do so knowingly and firmly over the objections of the American people. They have done so with great contempt for those who dare to question the decision or put up a fight. It is now up to the American people to demonstrate at a level never seen before in American politics that this is an unacceptable breach of faith with them and will not be tolerated. It is the only hope at this point that this terrible legislation – that has no chance of working – does not become law.

Up to now, a handful of Senators have been able to fight for amendments – and more, to fight for the transparency necessary to expose this bill's fatal flaws. Senators Sessions and DeMint properly objected to a sham amendment process that was limiting the rights of Republicans. Other members offered amendment after amendment designed to target the bill's many weaknesses - but few were granted votes. Their efforts and of those other members who didn't just "accept the grand bargain" have exposed the bill to the American people.

But now, those members are not the hope. They are going to be limited in their ability to do anything to stop this bill. In short – the very Senate leadership who repeatedly asks that the Republican caucus stick together are now rolling their conservative members to do a deal with Democrats – to do a deal with Ted Kennedy, Harry Reid and Hillary Clinton.

The hope now lies with the American people. The American people have been speaking – and Senators are beginning to listen. Don't give up now. It is clear that Senators are beginning to understand that this bill is not supported by a sizable and important segment of the American public – middle America. There are many Senators still on the fence that are being counted on to pass this bill. This is why today it is up to the people. If there is any hope – the American people must speak, and must speak loudly. Make phone calls to Senate offices, repeatedly, and non stop until the bill is defeated. Faxes and email – flood their offices. Fax in voided checks to the NRSC and the RNC with letters saying you won't support them – and if you have ever given money before, ask for it back. Make very clear that this is the ultimate breach of faith and that there will be consequences.

Spread the word, America – there are a handful of Republican Senators who can stop this – and it is up to you to hold them accountable. It is up to you to tell them that you refuse to take this – you refuse to be sold a bill of goods. You are on to them – you know the bill cannot work. You know that this bill is "not better than the status quo" as the powers-that-be would have you believe. You know that this bill will cost YOU billions of dollars. You know that this bill harms our national security and undermines the rule of law. You know. If you speak, they will listen. Go.

I saw Michele on FOx last night debating Geraldo Rivera (aka Jerry King), on illegal immigration and I have seen her before but- wow, she is certainly easy on the eyes.

I too saw the exchange between the two. I was loving every minute of it. She lopped that cross-dressing bigoted maggot up one side and down the other. Go Michelle. She's my idol and hero!

Here’s a list of key Senate contacts for EVERYONE to email regarding immigration. Many offices are putting calls straight to voicemail and they can just trash faxes (and letters take weeks to get through due to security). Let’s hit Hill staff where they are so codependent - their Blackberries. Send email directly to staff - not just the generic Senator’s mailbox. Contact their Chief of Staff, Legislative Director, and Press Secretary. Make your voice heard!!

I believe Soros, as well as Warren Buffet, is funding Hillary Clinton, since he owns the Democrat party because of McCain-Feingold. It wouldn’t surprise me if he was also funding FD Thompson.

Hey it wasn’t long ago that many people here at FR were pissed off that Lott was no longer leader of the Senate when it was under Republican control (as if anyone can tell the difference between then and now)...be careful where you swear your allegiance.

>be careful where you swear your allegiance.<

Someone on FR said that Lott was a Democrat before he was a Republican. Could that could explain a few things? Try as one may, you cannot separate a man from his past.

Being a one-time Democrat is not a reliable litmus. At least, not in the South.

Phil Gramm, for example, was a one-time Democrat. And, oh, how I wish he were still in the Senate.

Yup, she was born in Philadelphia, and grew up near Atlantic City to Filipino parents. Interestingly enough, in her view that people born here to foreigners shouldn't necessarily be citizens, that would include herself, since her parents were here originally on work visas.

Since my father himself is from the Philippines originally, I can tell you that there a lot of angry Americans of Filipino descent, and recent Filipino arrivals who can't stand the fact that they have to wait for years to come to this country, and you have millions who just waltz across the southern border.

They’re generally taken aback and want to know if I’m SURE I want to be removed from the list. :) After that, they’re usually ready to move on to the next call...but the woman calling for the Republican Senatorial Campaign Committee was pretty sympathetic and even asked if I was aware that there are websites supporting the border patrolmen. A lady calling for the RNC said she was finding a lot of people are fed up with Bush’s amnesty plan (my term, not hers). BTW, two days later, it was reported the RNC had fired its telemarketing firm ;)
