"Senator, Stop Wasting Time and Get Back to Work" ***VANITY***
mukraker

Posted on 06/11/2007 11:11:38 AM PDT by mukraker

I doubt if it will do any good, but I called both my U.S. Senators from Wisconsin to express my outrage that the Senate is wasting time with this stupid no-confidence vote regarding Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez.

This vote will have no practical result, other than a photo op for the media. The Senate has already voted to confirm Mr. Gonzalez as Attorney General.

Perhaps we can each demand that our Senators do what they were elected to do, what they swore to do, to protect and defend the Constitution.

Can anyone find a Constitutional provision for a VOC? I mean in OUR Constitution.

Uh, we want them to be chasing their tails doing unnecessary stuff. That means they won’t be passing new laws to take away more of our rights!

Hey, as long as they’re wasting time on meaningless gestures they can’t do any real damage to the country.

Nope. In fact, just the opposite, since it can be argued that a vote of (no) confidence is a prohibited bill of attainder, given that it is a public chastisement (punishment) against an individual made in the name of the Senate, when the Senate has no such authorization.

I think they should be forced to sit and listen to Senator Robert C. Byrd ramble on and on about procedures all day long! Oh and never let him have his glasses while reading anything!

BACK TO WORK? Meaning MORE incomprehensible, pork-laden legislation?? More bridges to nowhere???

I say SEND THEM ALL HOME FOR 11 MONTHS A YEAR!

We — and our property and lives — would be a hell of a lot safer.

LOCK THEM IN THE HALLS OF CONGRESS
TURN OFF THE AIR CONDITIONING
FORCE THEM TO DO THE WORK
NOBODY LEAVES UNTIL THE BORDER IS SECURE

Then, as punishment for betraying the American people, make them go down to the border and build the fence themselves. Somebody give Fat Ted a shovel and Dingy Harry a pickaxe!

I lived in DC back in the 60s — when it was still a country town — while in the USAF and was convinced then that we were done in with the invention of air conditioning.
It’s the only device that would have made that former malarial swamp at Foggy Bottom inhabitable.
