My question is: What will you do if your children, friends, loved ones are blown up in a mall by Jihadists?
Will you hunker down into the safety of your home and neigborhood. Will you lash out to anything Muslim? Will you join a clandestine group to counter said atrocity? What will you do?
I'm very sorry to burst your bubble, but it's coming. So then, what will you do? Complain to your local representitives? As if they could do anything about it. What would your REALLY do? Think.

An example to follow as to what one should do, when attacked by jihadists (in a mall, on a bus, in a restaurant), is the example of the Israeli citizens. What do they do, when that attack happens and some of those citizens have lost some of their loved ones?
I would say that since they have been dealing with this for decades longer than we have, that they have figured out what to do -- as "citizens"...
As far as what the government should do, in order to combat this and to protect the citizens from these kinds of attacks, that is another question altogether. Your question, I see..., is directed to what individuals should do in their personal lives (in response to this) rather than what our officials should do...

I’l never forget the Larry King interview with SecDef Rumsfeld. Larry deviates from the interview to pimp his next show and it’s on American Idol. Our Secretary of Defense gives a resounding chuckle, and Larry asks him if he watches?! Uh, Larry - he’s busy. How wonderful a country at war, when the citizens can worry about a TV show.
Speaking of vigilante groups, if the radical Muslims start bombing us in public places, I’m afraid we’ll see the rise of organizations that will make the the Ku Klux Klan look like boy scouts. And they will consist of all races except Arabs. i predict that terrified Muslims will be flooding the airports as they flee the United States.

So, because Israel is surviving this type of thing, it makes it a non-issue? Unimportant? If this happened to my children, I would be crushed. I would find the put to death anyone who was involved in planning the attack...as well as anyone who would do the same kind of attack on other’s children.

You are the same as the environmentalists. It is not unnecessary, but not for a daily worry either. You can cause your children to be nervous wrecks but I will not do that to my kids.
Don’t label me the same as anyone. Just because I’m concerned about it doesn’t mean I am going to go out of my way to scare my children with it.
My 12 year old daughter is well aware of what is going on in the world. She isn’t blind or dumb. She asks questions and I don’t lie to her.
My 7 year old son is oblivious to the concerns of this type...but he is either with me or my daughter, so we will protect him.
You are right on both counts. The first five seasons of 24 I would not MOVE during an episode (even during commercials for fear of missing something). This season I have been so bored that I have been on computer which is away from the TV and just listened to it and even then found myself not paying attention. AI has been extremely boring and predictable. I am just hoping that next January both shows come back revived and ready for serious business.
