To learn more about Romney, a good place to begin is Unmarked Package’s home page. Also, Hugh Hewitt wrote a book about him, entitled, “A Mormon in the Whitehouse?”, which I’m reading now.

I thought Ron Paul sounded a lot like Bush in 2002.

A few quotes:

Bush Campaign Promise 2000: “If we don’t stop extending our troops all around the world in nation-building missions, then we’re going to have a serious problem coming down the road.”

Bush Campaign Promise 2000: “And after we fund important priorities in the ongoing operations of our Government, I believe we ought to pay down national debt. And so my budget pays down a record $2 trillion in debt over the next 10 years.”

Bush Campaign Promise 2000: “What I think the president ought to do [when gas prices spike] is he ought to get on the phone with the OPEC cartel and say we expect you to open your spigots...And the president of the United States must jawbone OPEC members to lower the price.”

If you want to flame your fellow conservatives, you’ll have to learn to take some heat too. I’m not asking for trouble, and in fact, I’ve been ignoring you. You started it again, RM. If you don’t want a response from me, stop posting to me. Okee, dokee? :)

Tommy was great in Wisconsin. Learnfare, Workfare - innovative. Tax cuts. He was very popular. Times were good in that state then.

LOL!

I would have LOVED to have seen Rush hosting the DIM debate and Ann Coulter doing the follow-up. It would have been priceless!

Why does MSNBC not think there is a comparison here to the ditsy twins, Matthews and Olberman, hosting the Rs? Gotta shake your head......

I understand. and I like that Fred has that honed as well.

Yes, if Fred enters the race, his acting and his previous political experience will serve him well.

Fair analysis....

One thing that should not go unmentioned is how utterly irrelevant and juvenile many of the questions were. Not bad training for responding to the White House Press Corps... but not real helpful for informing the populace about the candidate’s vision.

Hunter looks, sounds and feels Presidential. He doesn't seem to mince his words -- he means what he says, and his responses were meaningful.

I'd trust him with my vote. I can't say that anyone else has earned that yet.

Very much agreed. I won’t believe Fred is running ‘til I see it.

EV,

I have been keeping quite about it, but Mitt has always done well in debates. There will be atleast 8 more debates in the Primary. It will only help him.

If you want to stop him you need to either have Fred run (I am still not sure it will help) or you need a master debater like Keyes take him on.

Not to agree or disagree with you, but that is the arguing tactic of a school child.

“Oh, yeah, well you can’t do better than Mitt, so your opinion is meaningless.”

For the record, I thought Mitt came across as phony too and just in case you’re interested, no, I’m not dumb enough to run for any elected office. Not interested in the pay cut.

Did you actually see the diamond stud imbedded in the eye teeth of Romney?

“If I could seriously believe Romney changed his mind on abortion etc. and that he wasnt just flip-flopping for political gain i’d go with him.”

Well, he may have changed his mind on things.

There is something else, to my way of thinking. If you run for office in MA, you really have to decide, do I want to win? It would be easy for a conservative to go with principle in MA. That would make a statement and maybe educate a few people. But you might as well thrown in the towell because you’re going to lose. I hope this doesn’t sound Machiavellian. But you would really have to ask yourself, why run just to lose? Maybe he did the best that was possible for conservatism for that state in those years.
