He does say (and this is a quote) “Hmmm . . . Ismail — the Arabic name for Ishmael — considered the father of all Arabs and a very important figure in Islam. I’m sure it’s just a coincidence, right?”

Draw your own conclusion. It is obvious what conclusion Engel drew.

I don’t think his referenses were that of a convert but of rebellion against society by embracing a few facets of it’s enemy. Militant Islam is anti-west so Cho dabbled in a bit of its imagery out of spite and anger against society. This kid needed alot of help.

Excellent analysis, and until I see evidence to the contrary, I agree.

And so do I.

I have drawn my own conclusion.

We know that Cho was mentally ill. We know that he felt isolated. We know that his writing was filled with violent ideation. We know that his behaviour caused grave concern among many people. We know that he stalked women. We know that he shot a woman as his first act.

That is what we know. Until we know that Cho chanted or shouted all-akbar or that he visited even one mosque once this line of idle speculation is nothing more than a circle jerk.

nterestingly, I have a Korean engineer who works for me.

His dad reported that the official news version in Korea is that this guy was a Chinese national.

Wonder if it’s just misreporting or wishful thinking.

-----------------------------------------------

Funny, the Korea Times (Korea's official paper to the world) says nothing of the sort. I'd question your co-worker's honesty and motives.

To: Leftism is Mentally Deranged
The creep’s picture should not have been printed. His name should have been kept secret. His message should have been examined ONLY by the police. He should have been described only as a “mentally disturbed misfit”.

I agree, but we live in the age of 24/7 news. Cable/satelite news coverage, etc. 50 years ago what you said would have been the norm. It was the way it WAS. Sadly, never again.

I suppose that officialy makes me old codger.

“I’d question your co-worker’s honesty and motives.”

Well, that’s why I’d never let you work for me.

My employees’ honesty is clear. His motive was laughter and a commentary on how SK is in denial.

And keep in mind, US news sources originally ID the shooter as Chinese -— and Korea is a day away. They’ll catch up, if they have not already.

Why in Heaven’s name would I want to work for you? And Korea is not a day away in the news cycle, no place on earth is. (it’s that darn internet thingy). The Korea Times had it right on day one.

“I don’t think you can pin Cho’s actions in Islamic terms.”

I agree. Making this insane murderer out to be more complicated than that is just being ridiculous.

I want to know why this crime has not been called a “hate Crime” by the liberal media. This is nothing but a hate crime. This monster was full of hate. Hate for everything and everybody and yet the liberal media refuses to call it a “hate crime”. If the shooter would have been white, the headlines would most certainly be “White racist kills minorities at VT”. Hate crimes are only reserved for whitey.

So the accuracy of the media is an article of faith with you? Have you never noticed how other instances of SJS (sudden jihad syndrome) have been ethnically cleansed by both the media and the government?

How did you interpret these events for instance - the Oklahoma University bombing of 2005 widely reported as not terror related, the El Al counter shooting in LA in 2002 reported as a despondent man with financial woes, and the driver who used his vehicle in 2006 to mow down students on the campus of North Carolina University.

How do you explain the repeated use by Cho of the logo “Ismail AX” including as a tatoo on his body at the time of his suicide attack?

In fact in NYC the Palestinian man who went on a shooting rampage at the Empire State Building in 1997 was also declared not terror related until this year when his family confessed the political motive to his “crime.”

Actually, Engel didn’t write the words you quoted; Engel was quoting what was posted on the Angry Arab News Service website (reread Engel’s piece).

As I wrote, the idle speculation is a circle join, I’m sure there is space for you.

I guess that section of the story was actually a quote Engel put in his story, so you are right.

Still, he does raise some questions.

silly questions imo, until someone shows where Cho says allah akbar.

I think this is a bit of a stretch. It reminded me more of the Columbine video, or what’s been released.

When I heard his ranting about rich people and Christians I thought I was listening to a Democratic platform speech.

And if he were black, Sharpton and Jackson would be making excuses for him about how "misunderstood" he was.

Yep. The guy was clearly not very smart...

I dunno. His rants contain a fair number of SAT words, and his sister graduated from Princeton. His history of aberrent behavior suggests psychosis more than stupidity. This would be evidenced if he ever was prescribed an antipsychotic such as Haldol.
