You can substitute cat into pretty much any recipe that calls for chicken.

Reason being is most stews have onion in them and onion can kill dogs also. Today is the first time I had heard that onions were bad for a dog. Also, did not know that grapes were bad for them. While not doubting the experts, I do have to wonder how my minature long-hair dachshund has lived to be 13 years old since she eats pieces of onion and grapes all the time. I will stop feeding it to her though.

On another thread I mentioned we make our catfood. Anyone who wants the general recipe and a couple of links with natural supplements and medicines for animals (which we’ve tried successfully), freepmail me.

Yep. My post #12 mentions this. *smile* Learned about it many years ago and never forgot.

Makes me wonder. My pampered pups and kitties eat expensive food, are inoculated annually and “we” follow all the “rules”.
My animal friendly neighbor who has rescued many a pup and kitty..has enviously healthly pets who eat table scraps, cheap kibble, annual rabies shots only and the run of his yard.
Things that make you go hmmm.

Duke was an amazing dog. He rode my moped with me... his favorite thing in the whole wide world- other than Hershey’s kisses and dumb dumb suckers.

My dog ate all my Halloween candy one night- wrappers and all. We called the vet the following morning, said she would be fine because she puked it all up.

My dog Chloe at a whole bag of Charms Blow Pops. The only thing left were the wrappers and sticks. LOL.

I don’t need a new dog food brand, I have no dog now. Cannot believe it, look for him all the time.
Will let others know, thank you.
You are right it was a fungus, sorry about that mistake, why wasn’t that played up more, they say 100 dogs died.

Thank you very much for your kind words.
Have lost pets before but loosing him is really tough, to think it was his food.

Some dogs are sensitive to chocolate, some are not.
When he was 18 weeks old, my dog ate a whole Costco double chocolate, chocolate chip muffin. (I had left it on the bedstead to go to the loo.) The muffin was at least 10 ounces, and Zipperhead weighed 5 lbs at the most.
He’s 7 years old now, and just fine, although his personality changed a bit after he fell off the trestle, but that’s a whole ‘nother story.

The CMVA says a healthy recipe for dogs includes cooked meat combined with potato or rice and a mineral supplement. Hmmmm, sounds a lot like leftovers...

I had a great AH HA moment myself with all the people who yell at me for feeding our dogs human food. We mix it up..but, honestly...once a dog gets a taste of steak, he has a hard time going back to kibbles and bits.

I think you are right about feeding them young. Did that start with the natives up there? Our black Lab, Spook, recovered from the raw salmon but a few days later he became paralyzed. It was a Sunday and I called on our radio phone and the Vet was in. I thought it was the Salmon poisoning but he asked me a few questions and then told me to look between his rear legs for a Tick. Sure as heck there was a fat Tick sucking blood. I smothered it with Vicks and then removed it. A few hours later he was up and begging for us to throw a stick...
