The pic was of the shooter.

BTW, I thought that nutria only lived in Louisiana, not Oregon.

Apparently they've been eradicated in CA, but are still around in OR, WA and up into BC.

You can probably get in trouble for posting a Congressman's photo to a story like this. Isn't that Waxman?

"The pic was of the shooter."

Yeah, I know. The nutria looks like the smarter of the two, doesn't it?

Why shoot nutria. They don't even taste good in gumbo."
Here in Louisiana we can claim a bounty...$4.00 x tail.

But, how many nutria do we have the size of a man. The old coot needs new glasses and his bullets confiscated! Andy only let Barney have 1 bullet but this guy shouldn't have one!

I'm guessing he was looking at the top of his head breaking the surface of the water.

"Deputies contacted Roderick Tuesday about the incident and arrested him on suspicion of possession of methamphetamine. A small amount of meth was found in the man’s house during a search, according to the sheriff’s office.

Sorry, we forgot the obligatory stupid crime caveat...

Drugs or alcohol may have been involved.

I don't think we have any that small here in Louisiana, but this story happened in Oregon ;-)

" Roderick went onto the deck of the house and fired at the object with a .22-caliber rifle, police said."

"Police said Roderick later led investigators to the section of river where he dumped the rifle after the incident. Divers on Wednesday recovered a gun from the river that is believed to be the one used in the shooting."

Are there nutria in Oregon?

Stable populations along the lower Columbia and Willamette and points south. They ain't worth the effort to trap...no demand for their fur. Never tried eating one...reminds me of a mutant rat.
