Jesse Jackson Wants Seinfeld Boycott for 'Kramer' Tirade

Jesse Jackson Wants a Seinfeld Boycott for Kramer Tirade --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Jim Roberts Nov 28, 2006

That didn't take long. Jesse Jackson is now heavily involved in the racist rant put forth by Michael Richards aka 'Kramer' from the popular '90's hit television sitcom Seinfeld. Richards went on Jesse Jackson's nationally syndicated radio program, "Keep Hope Alive," as a part of a series of apologies for the incident over the weekend.

Jesse Jackson Wants a Seinfeld Boycott for Kramer Tirade

Jackson, has called Richards' words "hateful," "sick," and "deep-seated, and for once in his life jess Jackson is right.

***

Of course that didn't last long as Jackson then called for a boycott of the Seinfeld DVD set that went on sale last week to protest Richards' racial tirade at a comedy club in Los Angeles last week.

Yes - that will really solve something.

***

Richards, who played Jerry Seinfeld's wacky neighbor Kramer on the TV sitcom "Seinfeld," was performing at West Hollywood's Laugh Factory last week when he lashed out at hecklers with a string of racial obscenities and profane language. A cell phone video camera captured the outburst, and the incident later appeared on TMZ.com.

Richards told Jackson the tirade was fueled by anger, not bigotry. He said he wanted to hurt those who had hurt him.

"I was in a place of humiliation," he said.

***

Hard to say what should happen to Richards. He has really no career and has been unable to sustain the Seinfeld momentum. But moving to Jesse Jackson for healing was a huge error as Jackson will want to make it about the person he cares most about.

Jesse Jackson.

Richards was a fool to go on Jackson's talk show and apologize just like Trent Lott was a fool to go on BET to apologize for a non-issue that was blown up. Allen was a fool to apologize for his Macacca slip. All three should have just said stick it and let the chips fall where they may. By going the apologetic route, they are setting themselves up for perpetual condemnation and are guilty of all accusations by reason of apology. Richards, Lott, and Allen have all three played right into the hands of Jackson, the Left, and the black racists.

The restaurant guy was the only regular black character that I remember and he was always threatening to toss the gang out of the diner.

There was also the Johnny Cochrane-style lawyer whom Kramer used periodically for stupid lawsuits....

Pryor was a gifted storyteller known for unflinching examinations of race and custom in modern life, and was well-known for his frequent use of colorful language, vulgarities, as well as such racial epithets as "nigger," "honky," and "cracker". He reached a broad audience with his trenchant observations, although public opinion of his act was often divided. He is commonly regarded as the most important stand up comedian of his time: Jerry Seinfeld called Pryor "The Picasso of our profession."[1]; Whoopi Goldberg cited him as her biggest influence, stating "The major influence was Richard - I want to say those things he's saying."

No it is not. It may be out of production but Seinfeld is shown in reruns many times per week were I live.

I did not see that. Was Seinfeld shushing the audience because they were booing Richards or they were applauding/cheering Richards?

Oh, I would guess something like "Lizard Faced Thief And Lying Troublemaker" could be "Kramers" distinction of the crooked Jesse Jackson!

I guess Michael Richard's jaw dropped when Jessie or his associate told him what the expected donation amount to Operation PUSH was. Jerry Seinfeld must have said "no" as well.

My only exposure was through the TV adds for the show when it was on. Those were enough to turn me off completely. I find it troubling if that generation sees itself through such a prism.

Now that the Democrats are back in power you are going to see a lot more of "Shakedown" Jackson.

I don't understand why it seems no one has said any about the hecklers. You want to go to a show and heckle, you should plan on being dressed down. I love the way Rodney Dangerfield (RIP) or Sam Kinison (RIP) would go after hecklers:

Paraphrasing from Sam, What's that,... that's what your mom said as I was leaving her house,..... Be sure to speak up at the show, and tell my retarded son not to XXXX with you act,...... You may not recognize her when you get home,.... I shaved her back, .... YOU STILL WANT TO HELP OUT,.... You XXXXXXXXXX,...........
If they didn't want to be part of the show they should he kept their mouths shut IMO.

I don't think Michael Richards from what I have heard and seen is quick on his feet , most of his comedy to my eye is set up and he isn't that funny on the fly, I haven't seen the video and don't plan too but if these folks messed up his timing I understand him losing his patience, maybe next time he'll concentrate on the seven forbidden words and keep the epithets for the cast party after the show.

My opinion, worth what you paid.

Actually, they were laughing because what he was saying was so idiotic & bizarre, I think they were waiting for the punchline. Uncomfortable to watch(I only saw a portion of it). I'm sure it's probably on youtube or something somewhere.

I'm already boycotting Seinfeld. That show sucked.

Yep. That's why nobody watched it.

Jerry Seinfeld must have said "no" as well.

Probably said, "No, but please keep up the free publicity." The only folks who would boycott are the ones that never got the humor and wouldn't have bought it anyway.
