Jesse Jackson Wants a Seinfeld Boycott for Kramer Tirade --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

By Jim Roberts Nov 28, 2006

That didn't take long. Jesse Jackson is now heavily involved in the racist rant put forth by Michael Richards aka 'Kramer' from the popular '90's hit television sitcom Seinfeld. Richards went on Jesse Jackson's nationally syndicated radio program, "Keep Hope Alive," as a part of a series of apologies for the incident over the weekend.

Jesse Jackson Wants a Seinfeld Boycott for Kramer Tirade

Jackson, has called Richards' words "hateful," "sick," and "deep-seated, and for once in his life jess Jackson is right.

***

Of course that didn't last long as Jackson then called for a boycott of the Seinfeld DVD set that went on sale last week to protest Richards' racial tirade at a comedy club in Los Angeles last week.

Yes - that will really solve something.

***

Richards, who played Jerry Seinfeld's wacky neighbor Kramer on the TV sitcom "Seinfeld," was performing at West Hollywood's Laugh Factory last week when he lashed out at hecklers with a string of racial obscenities and profane language. A cell phone video camera captured the outburst, and the incident later appeared on TMZ.com.

Richards told Jackson the tirade was fueled by anger, not bigotry. He said he wanted to hurt those who had hurt him.

"I was in a place of humiliation," he said.

***

Hard to say what should happen to Richards. He has really no career and has been unable to sustain the Seinfeld momentum. But moving to Jesse Jackson for healing was a huge error as Jackson will want to make it about the person he cares most about.

Jesse Jackson.

Kramers TRUE punishment is that he will have to be Jesse's bitch for the rest of his life now.

Jesse has had it in for the Seinfeld show for a long time. I remember complaints when the show was on about its lack of diversity. I don't think they ever caved either. The restaurant guy was the only regular black character that I remember and he was always threatening to toss the gang out of the diner.

Kramer should have just gone with the Mel Gibson-Mark Foley defense.

I thought I was the only oddball that didn't like Seinfeld.

Given there's no longer "bad publicity" in these convoluted times and who the flap concerns two absolute has-beens with badly sagging careers?
Reasonable people must wonder how much of this is contrived for the purpose of drawing attention.

Start with the two shills who showed-up at this idiot's performance to "heckle him" & look at the characters who come after.
Smells like a scheme from the deranged mind of a 2006 era marketing moron.

Yup.

...sure does.

I'm sure that Jesse Jackass has already told Jerry Seinfeld that he'd be willing to drop the boycott in exchange for 3% of the DVD revenue. After all, that is Jackson's standard M.O. - blackmailing, race-baiting hustler that he is...

"I wish there was a one-word description for that sort of person, but I can't imagine what it would be."

Can't do it in a single word, but for my money no one ever topped the J.C. Watt's phrase:

"race-baiting poverty pimp."

"Good point, I'll bet a "contribution" would end the call for the boycott."

The "Reverend" Jesse "Hymietown" Jackson needs the money for his illegitimate child (or is it children?).

Yep, if anything Jesse just sold a bunch of Seinfeld DVDs.

Jerry should give him a call and thank him.

I guess I will participate in the boycott. I find nothing funny or entertaining about the show anyway in the first place so I have "boycotted" it since it started. And that plunk, plunk, plunk sound between scenes is like fingernails on a blackboard to me.

C'mon, this is America, the world's center of capitalism. I propose an N-Exchange. One could receive an N-Credit everytime one heard the N word; then, one could sell that N-Credit to someone who might want to use the word hisownsef. One could call his broker and sell his N-Credit through the N-Exchange to that unknown buyer.

Alternatively, there could arise an N-word Elimination Trust (N-NET). This would be similar to the National Land Trust where rich folks and foundations donate money so that the Land Trust could buy land to take it out of commerical consumption. If one happened to own a rapper cd, one might get really welathy by ginning up credits and selling same to the N-NET. Oh, well, just a thought.

Somehow I missed the sentence where Jesse Jackson demanded the boycott of ESPN over Michael Irvin's recent racist statement on ESPN radio.

Does this mean Jesse sent his blackmail demand already to Seinfeld and it was denied or is this story the blackmail and he will lift the boycott once he is paid?

Hi, meg:

I've never been much of a "Sienfeld" fan, but why bother ignoring a show that's already in large syndication?

I could understand Jesse's lament if "Seinfeld" was still in production with NBC, but re-runs scattered across countless cable, dish and local stations?

All those stations have to do if this "Boycott" is successful, which I sincerely doubt; is drop "Seinfeld" and pick up "That 70's Show", "Arrested Development" and/or "Malcolm In The Middle".

Jack.
