This is what you get for going to the UN.
Had we acted unilaterally they would have just screamed. Now we have to defy them and we'll gut whatever usefulness they might have possessed in the future.

The United States no longer has any "foreign policy".
Bush, Condi and her Kerry-loving Nicholas Burns have reduced the United States, with all its existing power, to no more than a reed in the wind, and more helpless than the smallest nation on earth. You might as well close the DOD down, its worthless.

THANK YOU CHINA AND RUSSIA FOR CONTINUING SELLING ARMS TO NK! BACKSTABBERS! In my opinion, this isn't a surprise at all.
Russia and China are our enemies. North Korea is China's pawn. They can feign annoyance with Mr. Kim all they want, but when the rubber hits the road, NK is doing exactly what China wants it to do.

"We'd better be prepared to go it alone."
Exactly!
and while we're initiating a blockade on NK we might as well add China to the embargo list. That'll get the Chicoms attention!

True. I wonder when Bush looked in the Pooty's eyes did he see the knife in his own back?

BACKSTABBERS!
My FRiend, the simple fact that you are here on FreeRepublic indicates that you can not possibly be naive enough to think that either of these two countries are our friends. To back-stab indicates that the offending party was trusted.
China still officially lists the US and an enemy of the State. Russia is not now, nor have they ever been our friend.
They are not backstabbing, they are simply supporting an old friend - North Korea.
WE are the foolish ones if we expected anything else.
Cordially,
GE

There's a very simple solution, tell China that we are going to cut 20% of trade with them and get Japan and South Korea to supplement for the cuts. We can then either take the $22 billion trade deficit we owe China and add it on to our national deficit or see if Japan and South Korea can finance it for us. Either which way we choose to go it will create havoc on the Chinese markets and force them to live up to their responsibilities concerning NK.

I wonder when Bush looked in the Pooty's eyes did he see the knife in his own back? Hope so. I don't know.
I believe the Cold War rages on-- we've just had a hiatus of a couple of decades while the enemy goes through Chapter 11, and brings in some new business partners.

Agreed-- it's hard for me to see why Bolton is going along with this crap.
It looks like Bush is caving on all fronts. All he has to do now is go out and push his shamnesty bill for illegal aliens a little more to put the icing on the cake.
Looks like we have decided to go back to pretending to do something about Iran and NK.
Just hope the nukes or other WMD's delivered to the US in the next 5 - 10 years aren't in my city.

Its time to leave the UN,and leave all UN treaties,as well as ones with russia and china. We need to form a democratic alliance world wide of Ad Hoc coalitions that can actually get things done.Russia and china obstruct and oppose us at every turn. Nothing will ever get done because of these two nations. They are the puupet masters of whats going on in the world,and we need to start treating them like the enemies that they are.

I absolutely detest the UN.
Let's push them out of the US.
I've had enough of this on US soil!
The biggest slap in the face is that they operate in New York, where we were attacked by terrorists!

Makes sense. We want them to stop making huge weapons so we just sell them other weapons. Kinda like when a kid breaks a gets in trouble for cussing in front of the neighbor. You send him to his room and allow him to cuss like a sailor in there where all can hear him, but he's punished.

It's actually worse than that. Under Clinton most countries could see we were full of BS and nothing would be done. But they couldn't be sure.
Now, after Bush has gone out and attacked our enemies but failed to achieve victory, and is now retreating on all fronts, they are certain we are much weaker than they thought.
Never thought I'd say this, but Clinton's policy of appeasement at least allowed us to save face and make people wonder when they would cross the line.
Now, with Bush, they know there is no line.
With Iran, it looks like Rice is busy conjuring up antique notions of 'containment'. It's a farce: all of our 'allies' will do nothing (except continue to trade with them and sell them dual-use equipment) and Iran will develop nukes and use them as cover as their proxies shell Israel out of existence.
What Bush is demonstrating is:
a) if you just attack or threaten the US, no one else will provide any meaningful assistance to the US militarily or diplomatically;
b)the US will do nothing credible when attacked;
In the end, we are going to be attacked physically and bullied diplomatically without end after this.
