The United States no longer has any "foreign policy".
Bush, Condi and her Kerry-loving Nicholas Burns have reduced the United States, with all its existing power, to no more than a reed in the wind, and more helpless than the smallest nation on earth. You might as well close the DOD down, its worthless.
Now, after Bush has gone out and attacked our enemies but failed to achieve victory, and is now retreating on all fronts, they are certain we are much weaker than they thought.
Never thought I'd say this, but Clinton's policy of appeasement at least allowed us to save face and make people wonder when they would cross the line.
Now, with Bush, they know there is no line.
With Iran, it looks like Rice is busy conjuring up antique notions of 'containment'. It's a farce: all of our 'allies' will do nothing (except continue to trade with them and sell them dual-use equipment) and Iran will develop nukes and use them as cover as their proxies shell Israel out of existence.
What Bush is demonstrating is:
a) if you just attack or threaten the US, no one else will provide any meaningful assistance to the US militarily or diplomatically;
b)the US will do nothing credible when attacked;
In the end, we are going to be attacked physically and bullied diplomatically without end after this.
That is the most ridiculous, bed-wetting statement I've seen here in quite awhile.
Why are you even at this forum?
"From 1995 to 1997, Ambassador Burns was Spokesman of the Department of State and Acting Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs for Secretary of State Warren Christopher and Secretary Madeleine Albright. In this position, he gave daily press conferences on U.S. foreign policy issues, accompanied both Secretaries of State on all their foreign trips and coordinated all of the Departments public outreach programs.
Mr. Burns, a career Senior Foreign Service Officer, served for five years (1990-1995) on the National Security Council staff at the White House. He was Special Assistant to President Clinton and Senior Director for Russia, Ukraine, and Eurasia Affairs. He had lead responsibility in the White House for advising the President on all aspects of U.S. relations with the fifteen countries of the former Soviet Union."
