I'm thinking the best situation is probably a Dem house by 2 or 3 votes.

This will allow the Republican leadership to pick better leaders like Pence. It'll also make sure that the Democrats don't really get anything passed, but they'll be long on rhetoric. And that never works well overall for them. If it comes down to a 2 seat R or a 2 seat D house, I'd rather have the D house, but then, I'm not a hill staffer. But I hope the Republicans can get better leadership. Hastert never had much vision.

Well, if saying it made it so, I'd agree with you. Sadly, that is not the case. My question: What are you doing to help your local GOP candidates who may be in tight races?

Just saying the Democrats won't win isn't enough.

We must also keep in mind that this Foley affair is SSDD for Republicans. It's galvanized and energized the core GOP voters. If midterms are indeed all about GOTV, the Foley stuff will be a net benefit for Republicans.

Ignore any poll that is not likely voter and, in fact, ignore most polls that poll registered voters and then cull from those the likely voter pool.

It's really important, from a civics standpoint, to beat the Democrats as much as possible now because the lesson from this, otherwise, is October surprise scandal-mongering works and it will just get worse from here.

well, there are smart attacks and dumb attacks. You take the fight to your enemy - you don't give them this advantage.

We will not win every contest, but the odds increase when you attack, instead of defend.....just don't be dumb, and make shure your attack has teeth......and content .....and context.

Well Michale Steele will be adding 1+ Republican senate seat from MD this year.

Look, save this message. There is no way the Republicans will lose anything.

Well, I hope they spelled his name correctly on the ballot. He's still behind, even in the poll commisioned by his campaign, and much further behind in other polls.

It's one of the races I'm watching closely.

Meanwhile, I'm voting straight ticket Republican and against Sexual McCarthyism.

I'd be careful of using that particular epithet. Dershbagowitz published a book w/ that title defending His Slickness(I have a copy on my bookshelf). If you use that phrase, that is what folks will think of. Defending the indefensible.

Hello,

Last night, I (finally) asked my MIL about the Foley issue and if she would either stay home or change her vote. She laughed and said if the fact that there was a gay man in the GOP was enough for her to not vote or vote Dem, she would be a fool.

(I waited to ask because the initial reporting of this was horrid (facts be damned) and I hoped to get her impressions now, after some time. Her attitude (from a 74 year old conservative Christian) proves that the Dems/DBM pitched this too soon, it will blow up in their faces, it IS blowing up in their faces.)

Glad to be here, MOgirl

Me thinks that by next weekend we will not even hear any Foley news, haa!

Actually, I think I'm like many others, what Foley did is wrong but it doesn't affect my vote for Republicans I'll be voting for. Now, as Ann Coulter said, "I wouldn't vote for John McCain" and I am totally with her on that ticket!

I hope that conservatives blow the dems out of the water in Nov and prove once again the damaging stories are not what wins elections.

Look, nobody but God knows the future right?

I am saying that Steele will win in MD and at worst the Republicans will keep the current control over both houses; if not gain seats.

How about this. Keep this message and we will talk on Nov 3rd.

Rothenberg blew the 2000 and 2002 House control races and is not respected by the Right. I will by days ends give links to Stuies screw ups from Past elections.

I was just going to do that but since it's common knowledge I'll find something else to do.

The R's need to attack.

The fact that the Dems are defacto psychologically colluding with Islamo-terrorists should be shouted from the mountaintops.

In Pennsylvania, my main man Sen Rick Santorum must continue playing the TV ad showing Dem loopy Casey to be pro-amnesty for 20 million illegal aliens.

If the GOP doesn't take the gloves off starting this week, they deserve to lose.

(No, I don't believe that really, but what the hey, it's frustrating to see the side keeping us safe and prosperous getting hammered day after day by the lametoidical media, not to mention the lib-Dem-weenies.)

It is a sad commentary that we want Republicans to win becuase the Democrats will be so awful, but that is the reality of where we are.

The Republican leadership has been weak if not wrong-headed too many times. Hopefully, this election scare will be a wake-up call.

We cannot afford to shake them awake with Democrat victories. That would create too much mayhem to our country and our national security.

Even though it is discouraging and frustrating, this is a time when we have to rally conservatives to get active and help Republicans maintain control.

The National Tax Limitation Committee is about to launch a TV campaign to motivate our base to prevent the tax-raising Democrats from taking control. You can go to their website and help the effort: http://www.limittaxes.org/

Do you actually know anyone who isn't going to vote now? I keep hearing about these depressed, won't bother to vote, not excited, republican voter, but have yet to meet one.

Everyone I've talked to is still going to vote, and although sickened by the whole Foley incident, many feel it is a bedroom exposa (I don't know how to do the little accent thingie so I phonetically spelled it) and would rather not be bothered with it, especially when it may be less of a story than previously thought. It is viewed as pre-election gotcha politics, the same as Bush's DUI, the Nat'l Guard story, etc. In fact, this may backfire on the dems and the "conventional wisdom."

Contrary to liberal-think, many conservatives would just rather not know what anyone is doing in their bedroom. I sure don't want to hear about it on the nightly news.

Hmm...what will we talk about on Nov. 3rd? As for God, you can see by my tagline that I don't believe in any deities. I'm pretty much focused on the real world, and leave the supernatural out of my calculations.

We'll talk about how you have no faith.

Trust me, on Nov 3rd, there will be a thread in chat about your lack of faith.

Until then...

Just another note. I don't usually bother with predictions from anyone who doesn't know what day the election is. It's just a thing with me.
