October 1, 2006 9/11 Panel Members Werent Told of Meeting By PHILIP SHENON
WASHINGTON, Oct. 2 Members of the Sept. 11 commission said today that they were alarmed that they were told nothing about a White House meeting in July 2001 at which George J. Tenet, then the director of central intelligence, is reported to have warned Condoleezza Rice, then the national security adviser, about an imminent Al Qaeda attack and failed to persuade her to take action.
Details of the previously undisclosed meeting on July 10, 2001, two months before the Sept. 11 terror attacks, were first reported last week in a new book by the journalist Bob Woodward.
The final report from the Sept. 11 commission made no mention of the meeting nor did it suggest there had been such an encounter between Mr. Tenet and Ms. Rice, now secretary of state.
Since release of the book, State of Denial, the White House and Ms. Rice have disputed major elements of Mr. Woodwards account, with Ms. Rice insisting through spokesmen that there had been no such exchange in a private meeting with Mr. Tenet and that he had expressed none of the frustration attributed to him in Mr. Woodwards book.
It really didnt match Secretary Rices recollection of the meeting at all, said Dan Bartlett, counselor to President Bush, in an interview on the CBS News program Face the Nation.
It kind of left us scratching our heads because we dont believe thats an accurate account, he said.

None of this was shared with us in hours of private interviews, including interviews under oath, nor do we have any paper on this, said Timothy J. Roemer, a Democratic member of the commission and a former House member from Indiana. Im deeply disturbed by this. Im furious.
Another Democratic commissioner, former Watergate prosecutor Richard Ben-Veniste, said that the staff of the Sept. 11 commission was polled in recent days on the disclosures in Mr. Woodwards book and agreed that the meeting was never mentioned to us.
This is certainly something we would have wanted to know about, he said, referring to the July 10, 2001, meeting.
******
That's not all that wasn't shared with the "commission" you MORONS and you know it since you had one of the main people responsible for 9/11 sitting on the "commission".
Thanks for the link.
Good point...isn't it interesting that Bob Woodward never said ANYTHING about this supposed meeting until the days before an election, when CFR has gone into play and efforts to challenge his account in the media are limited???
hahah
exactly...if Tenet had actually said this, don't ya think he would have told the 9/11 commission????? Especially since it would have put him in a position to lay the blame at Bush and Rice's feet??? Come on now!
Do you think the so called "9/11 commission" was formed to find out what really happened on 9/11? First they try to put Kisssinger in charge then they find people like Gorecki who was directly involved...... LMAO!
Barf Alert!
Hey Bob! Listen to this!
Where was the attack to be? When? I can say that there is going to be an imminent attack by al Qaeda and probably be right too.
I am so sick of the lies just to get the 'power' back...
"They should bring Woodward in and make him give sworn testimony about all these new revelations. On penalty of perjury"
You expect this from an administration who let Sandy Burglar off with a wrist slap when caught stuffing top secret documents down his pants.
From an administration who still hasn't fired all the Clintonista's still undermining his administration?
I guess u can dream about it. But don't hold your breath.
Let's be honest here. This is ass-covering of the worst sort by an agency determined to hurt the President. It is worth noting that Tenet got to meet with the President every day. Further, it's worth noting that the CIA has been running a covert operation against this president for four years.
Be Seeing You,
Chris
"Further, it's worth noting that the CIA has been running a covert operation against this president for four years"
And who do you think has the power to get rid of these Clintonista's still undermining this administration?
The tooth fairy? Blame the people WHO ALLOW THIS TO CONTINUE.
I haven't read Woodward's book. Does he name his source for this? or give a general description like "a senior State Department official"?
On June 23, both the FAA and the State Department issue terrorist warnings. State ordered all diplomatic posts to set up emergency action committees to deal with the threat of terrorist attacks. The CIA speculated that the most probable targets are in Europe. The State Department, the FAA, and the FBI will issue a total of eight separate warnings between June 22 and August 1. ----Washington Post!!!! YOUR OWN DONKEY NEWSPAPER, Bob WoodHEAD!, May.17.2002
On June 26, intelligence agencies inform the White House of a spike in terrorist communications about a possible strike on July 4. Both the State Department and the Pentagon issue more terrorist alerts. ----CHICAGO TRIBUNE reported the Navy ordered all ships in the Middle East OUT OF PORT ASAP.
According to the WASHINGTON DINGBAT POST WHICH HIRES HAS-BEEN LAZY BUTTS, a June 28 intelligence summary for National Security Adviser Rice states It is highly likely a significant al-Qaeda attack is in the near future, within several weeks. THIS WAS WIDELY REPORTED AT THE TIME!!!!!!!!! --Usually between pages 8 and 37, depending upon the degree of incompetence of the local editors.
----But the Americann Poodle Press was focused like a laser beam on Gary Condit's escapades and the dire threat to humanity posed by sand sharks in Florida.
President Bush couldn't get rid of the Clinton leftover's. Clinton saw to that right before he left office by making them all Civil Servants.
Before his term was over, Bill Clintoon signed a presidential directive making all of his political appointees civil servants. Impossible to fire, BTW. So how is this Bush's fault?
In the report, Tenet and his counter terrorism guy Black are mentioned as sources to Woodward's book.
A little homework for you.
