THE CLINTON EFFECT [Susan Estrich dons her kneepads]
Yahoo! News ^ | Tue Sep 26, 2006 | By Susan Estrich

Posted on 09/28/2006 3:30:07 AM PDT by johnny7

It was a win-win situation for former President Bill Clinton and Fox News on Sunday. Fox News (my employer) won by getting all the attention, the highest ratings since the capture of Saddam Hussein and the most views on YouTube. The former president won by taking control of the national dialogue on the war on terrorism, such that he has everyone comparing President Bush's pre-9/11 record on hunting down Osama with his own, and in the process undercutting the Bush administration's claimed strength (the only one left) at fighting terror, which is why Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice is most recently trying to put the issue behind us. She who says it's ancient history lost the war.

“Which may make the big loser the man who Clinton has been yearning to defeat (if only Al Gore had let him) for all these years, along with his party.”

Poor Susan... for her and her ilk, it's still 2000. This stuff is straight out of the rubber-rooms at DU.... pure dementia.

One appearance, on Fox News, his first time on "Fox News Sunday." And he has everyone talking.

Talking about what a flake he is, you mean.

The Democrats needed a leader to rally the base, give people a reason to reach into their pockets a second time, to push their passion buttons....

Very poor choice of words, to say the least. I just don't think these are phrases she should use to refer to Bill Clinton. I for one want no images of Bill Clinton pushing anybody's passion buttons... I think we heard enough of that already.

Who better to do it than the man who has become a symbol of bipartisanship, global leadership ....

Did I miss this? When did this happen? Could be interesting to see Bill Clinton and Jimmy Carter start slugging it out for the post of "Failed Democratic President Reinvented as Global Leader to Distract From His True Legacy" mantle. And "bipartisan"? Is she kidding?

He won?

What Bill did was engage in rage. That isn't winning to me.

Do they really believe their talking points? Bill revealed himself to be a very small and self-centered man. To spin this as some sort of "speaking truth to power"? Well, just more evidence that many Democrats lack the critical thought necessary for sensible leadership.

All politicians reach their sell-by date. Bill Clinton's is long past. It's really rather amusing that the Democrats fail to understand this.

Americans made a big mistake when they elected a president who was married to a woman who also planned to run for president.

Bill was a do-nothing president because he couldn't do anything that would jeapordize Hillary's chances of being elected.

That's an interesting way of looking at it... sure seems so now.

Yeah. She didn't don her kneepads, she broke free from her straight jacket.

For a liberal to love Bill is one thing, but to fail to see the man never won the majority of the popular vote is another. While Clinton may rally "the troops" and open the pocketbooks of actors everywhere, he also rallies the Republican base which was frankly starting to get disinterested.

In 1996 I was 24 years old and didn't vote for Clinton. I am now 34 and have grown as a man. I have kids and a mortgage a business and responsibilities to my family. That said, imagine the other 24-28 year olds who did vote for this guy, but have grown as people and the veil over their eyes have been lifted.

Clinton will suck the oxygen out for everyone but Hillary, and thats bad for Democrats, but great for us.

I swear these people *try* to lose elections.

Well, due to THEIR incompetent leadership, the Democrats from the 90's are making their previous 40 something year coverup look small by comparison.

Let's see, when LBJ ordered the killing of JFK in Dallas in 1963, one man was killed that day, and probably a few witnesses one by one who "wouldn't cooperate." You do realize the "massive" conspiracy was only two men, LBJ and Hoover, don't you?

Now what does that have to do with buildings being blown up by Middle Eastern Terrorists, an airplane having a missile shoot it down with HUNDREDS of witnesses saying that's what they saw, and a bombing in Atlanta that was blamed on an abortion clinic bomber who took the blame recently for something he did NOT do and got life in prison. Notice he was NOT executed.

I used to wonder HOW the German citizens were led into world war II while "secretly" killing millions.

Now I see how. Clinton's national security director gets caught stuffing TOP SECRET SPECIAL CATAGORY documents into his underwear and the American Press yawns. Clinton tells the citizens that "Sandy Berger was that way, he did good work, but his desk was sloppy, he didn't do anything wrong" all the while smiling while talking to David Letterman and the audience laughed.

Then we have ABLE DANGER where the 9/11 Commission is told that ATTA was identified a year before with data mining, and at first when a military officer SACRIFICES his career that the Commissioners say they NEVER SAW anything of the sort.

THEN the 9/11 Commission says they saw that, OK, after the Press starts to smell a big lie, but later it "wasn't worth putting in the 9/11 REPORT!

IF you want to put the press and the American People back to sleep, just order a Commission, pull someone involved with the coverup (in this case it was Jamie Gorelick, involved in OKC, involved in TWA800, involved BIG TIME in the 9/11 Commission as "the hardest working member" of the commission.

You do know why don't you? Because if she wasn't involved, people (maybe even Freepers, but I doubt it) might see the biggest story in American Political History OBVIOUS right before their eyes.

No, you wonder WHY Clinton made an ass of himself? He has to divert attention from the REAL QUESTION.

How come when HUNDREDS OF WITESSES say there was Middle Eastern men involved in blowing up a building in OKC that the "investigation" ignores them, and the same in a missile shootdown of an airliner in 1996.

I know, until the Press spells it out for you, you'll hide in your collective ignorance and say like Possner said "Somebody would have talked."

Well they did but the press NEVER interviews them.

THE CONSPIRACIES are just mistakes by Presidents who need a lie to save their ass.

It's not hard, THINK!!!!!

What happened on Sunday is teh following:

A former President decided that it is more important to inject himself into partisan politics then to do what every President up to Jimmy Carter has done and keep his trap shut about the current administration and their policies.

This in and of itself opened the doors for criticism. He can't hide. He has to answer the questions.
