THE ISSUE: President Bush's Monday night speech about securing our border with Mexico.

*****......because of ethnicity, many illegal aliens automatically will qualify for preferences the instant they are legalized. They will not be at the back of any line, but at the front of a line from which the vast majority of Americans are permanently barred. Pike Road, Ala.

*****.......simply sending those who illegally enter our country back over the border without penalty or confinement allows them to try to enter again, at another time and place. Such lawbreakers, at a minimum, should be properly identified, held in civil confinement for a period of time, depending on how often they've been caught, and forever precluded from becoming American citizens.......Deer Park

Penalty/confinement isn't the answer either. We have to eliminate the incentives for them coming here in the first place, and the only way to do that is to punish the employers who hire them, cutt off their welfare freebies, and repeal the anchor baby laws. No jobs + no welfare + no automatic citizenship for their offspring = no reason to come. But since this is an effective solution expect it to happen when pigs fly.

Have you noticed that our government - at all levels - has stopped enforcing their own laws?

Gun laws, laws on immigration, laws for any and everything are no longer taken seriously and ARE NOT ENFORCED. There were to be 7000 more border guards several years ago and they never materialized

Congress has their own laws for their own employees including hiring, firing and payroll taxes, retirements, health care. Congress voted to follow the law of the land several years ago. DO they pay payroll taxes? Do they hire and fire on the same discriminatory basis that they did 10 years ago? Who knows. No one is talking about it. It's apparently not as newsworthy as GLBT and Middle eastern concerns as understood by Pravda-NYT.

The govt at all levels has become a rogue pirate organization.

We are taxed and they are ruthless in enforcing their right and might to take money. That's about the only thing they do well. But the demoncrats can't even figure out how to maximize tax receipts ( are they profits or income for the libs???) - they just want to raise tax rates, lower $$receipts and make everyone equally miserable just for the sake of their own perverted principles.

Immigration is just another link in the chain of failed enforcements and failure to uphold the law. It is not a policy issue - it is an issue of courage - No yellow bellied liberal can stand to uphold the law when his voters are all illegals, felons, Perverts and communists.

We need a list - a roll call of who upholds and who subverts the laws. The light of truth is all we have left.

Soon we will b e putting US troops in the southwest just to maintain 'domestic tranquility'. The gangs will be taking over, good people will move out and the Southwest will be another third world hell hole.

Let's move congres to Phoenix, Arizona and then see how seriously they take immigration reform.

Gun laws are being enforced. The level of FFL holders has dropped steadily since X42 was in office. The BATFE is actively persecuting small dealers and C&R collectors.

Makes sense to me. Preferences because of past racism and injustices. Of course it doesn't matter to this ignorant Government that the racism and injustice happened in some OTHER country, we just obligingly compensate for it, and discriminate against our own law abiding tax paying citizens.

this I a true fact that I have point out but seem to go over the heads of many here....

Interest thing I just heard today LADWP was busted for hiring illegals... now the thing is I have been trying to bid contracts for sub work to a prime contractors to LADWP...hard fact LADWP gives hiring preferences to "minorities" to but only to "minorities" of there own choosing, Hispanics are a preferred "minorities" (in Los Angeles?...) they also request biding prime contractor try and use so called disadvantaged /small business... I had won a bid (as a sub to a prime) then lost it because I was not a preferred "minorities"...per someone in the LADWP contracting department...

I got clarification from the head of LADWP contracting that I was an "acceptable" contractor but at that point the prime had just moved on to one of the preferred "minorities"... it just simpler for them

likewise, their EMPLOYERS are also granted 'AMNESTY', and if RUSHED to pass quickly enough (how soon is Memorial Day?), the current provision in the Senate Bill, which provides 'AMNESTY' for prior acts by employers of illegals, might throw a wrench in a current case like the R.I.C.O case against Mowhawk for hiring illegals, or future cases against big businesses like Tyson and Purdue, both of which were partly shutdown on May 1and to my knowledge NO action taken.

Good points. The 412 pp amnesty bill (which the dumbo Senators had not even read) was a long time in the making----this is the illgal invaders wish list....... everything they need to rip-off the US treasury for their eternal benefit.

There was an artical I read that said older people really didn't need all the neceassary SS and Medicade benefits anyway, so we have got to save that money for all those who never paid it. I agree. But how do we do that? Rush covered this issue yesterday - it would require a whole new army of gubmint bureaucrats to monitor and enforce this. Think of the THOUSANDS of small business owners who employ them: mom & pop roofing outfits, small farm operations, landscaping/lawn care businesses, etc. How could this ever be done?

The first and foremost thing to do is SEAL the border, stop them from getting here, and severely punish the ones who sneak in illegally. Period.
