Tehran (dpa) - Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad Monday called on Jews in israeli to go back to their countries of origin and allow Palestinians to return to their homelands.

``Anti-Semitism in Europe has forced Jews leave their countries of origin - but what they did instead was occupy a country which is not theirs but that of Palestinians,'' Ahmadinejad said in a press conference in Tehran.

He said that the dilemma in the Middle East could be settled only within a ``just peace plan'', but this first required the return of all Palestinians to their homelands and then a referendum.

``The fact is that Israel can eventually not continue its existence,'' he said.

While adopting a softer tone than before about the Holocaust, he still demanded a free evaluation of its real extent ``in order to find the ultimate truth.''

``We are sorry for any human being killed in the two world wars, we respect Moses as we respect Jesus, but it is just unacceptable that the Palestinians should suffer from the aftermath,'' Ahmadinejad said.

He blamed the West for branding him as ``war-monger'' simply for demanding what he said were the rights of the suppressed nation of Palestine.

If I were Israel, I would answer, "Gladly, have you read in the Bible/Torah where the land was that God gave to His chosen? We'll be happy to live in what is 'ours'".

The most amazing thing I've ever seen. More amazing in some repects are the American "Christians" that think it is horrible the way the Jews treat the palis and stole their land. (yes, I had this conversation over Easter dinner)

Israel, it seems to me would be well-suited by developing a consistent, coherent reply to this nonsense directed at the the Iranian whackos, the int'l onlookers, and if possible the Iranian people.

Simply discredit and mock the Iranians every time they make such a statement, ideally making reference to Achmedijad's tiny manhood.

The only good way out of this I see is to use their insecurity syndrome against them and coerce them into lashing out ineffectively ahead of their desired timetable. Once that happens, Israel and the US have political carte blanche and the gloves come off.

Right now it's like a trashtalking standoff at high noon, but we can't quite see if Iran's got it's ammo loaded.

Iran is making a lot of noise that they probably cannot back up right now, so the time is ripe to call them out as the cowards they are and try to induce them to make a false step.
