Hopefully this principal is getting papers served on him right to sue him & the school board for their refusal to fly the American flag on public school property bought & paid for by American taxpayers.

I bet he shows up to court wearing an American flag lapel pin on the advice of his lawyer. Disgusting.

FOR ANY WHO THINK THIS WAS A JOKE HERE IT IS FROM THE AP AND CHICAGO TRIB:

Flag Waving Banned at Colorado School
By Associated Press
Published April 1, 2006, 7:41 AM CST
LONGMONT, Colo. -- Dozens of high school students protested a temporary school policy forbidding students from displaying the U.S. flag -- as well as flags from other countries -- amid racial tensions following immigration rallies.
Skyline High School Principal Tom Stumpf said American flags were brazenly waved in the faces of Hispanic students and in one case a Mexican flag was thrown into the face of another student.
"When it involves the American flag and its abuse in vilifying other people, we simply will not tolerate it," Stumpf said. "They were using the symbol derisively as misguided patriotism."
Students were warned about the policy Friday and several were suspended, although Stumpf would not provide details. Then, about 100 students protested during lunch time.
Student Dustin Carlson told Denver station KCNC-TV that he was suspended for two days.
"I'm getting suspended for it and personally I think that's uncalled for," he said. "If this country means freedom, then why can't we fly our own flag? It's ridiculous."
Thousands of high school students Friday in California, Texas, Nevada and other states protested the tough immigration laws proposed in the House. Some waved Mexican flags and carried signs saying "We are not criminals."
On Monday, about 150 high school students, including some from Skyline, protested in Longmont.
"People are taking it to a whole other level," said Laura Avitia. "I don't think they know why we were protesting."

I did not take this as written by AP that the American Flag was removed from the school pole.

Sounds more like a few kids were using the American Flag inappropriately waving it in others face.

Wether it be a Flag or a hankerchief no student should be egging on other students by mis using an item like the article states.

This does not sound like a matter of wearing a pin lapel or patch on a jacket it sound more like a rebuttel to the latest La Raza B.S. going on.

Kids being kids inciting each other and so the Principal said no more of this type of behaviour.

So a few kids did the right thing in organizing a protest off school property.
However the Friday before sound like some kids were being brats and getting in some faces, that is not Patriotic IMO that is egging on a tensions.

Amen to that. And to make Stumpf a household word.

I was thinking more of making it an outhouse word.

the AMERICAN flag represents the country USA

Here is the deal. Ask a student that if you add 4 oranges and 3 apples to 6 oranges and 7 apples and they will give you the correct answer. Ask a student what 4x + 3y plus 6x + 7y equals, and their brain locks up.

a pledge to the USA, they would get and proudly say, a pledge to the flag, and they are just mouthing the words.

Wave the flag in my face all day long, I'll only reach out and kiss it. No one could ever get a reaction out of me by waving our flag in my face, newb. You might want to mosie along.

On the other hand, having to put up with foreign flags being paraded around would certainly make me want to break out old glory, or comment. One Cinco de Mayo a year is enough. More public displays of a foreign flag is only proof of allegiance to that foreign country.

I think you misunderstand.
Intimidating someone by actions in a negative way to provoke a response is not right. Kids taunting other kids.

Waving the American Flag in a prideful patriotic way to celebrate is a totally different aspect....such as the Rodeo when the Queen and he court come riding around the arena with the American Flag that just about chokes everyone up with Pride and Thankfulness.

That's my opinion and how I interputed the article.

Let this school be surrounded by thousands of American flag waving supporters of freedom of expression.

I love it! We could congregate just past the school property, so we couldn't be thrown off. And how about singing "America the Beautiful" while we're there?

But the administration needs to hold "INDIVIDUALS" responsible for any inappropriate behavior, not issue a blanket ban. This is exactly the same type of reasoning used by the anti-gun crowd with their cries that guns kill people so ban all guns. Guns do not kill people, people kill people.

I nominate you and global for the position of "Head superintendent of appropriate flag-waving." I've always said there's an appropriate time to wave the flag (Anytime you're alive), and of course, there surely must be an innapropriate time (after you've met your maker).

I imagine the taunts of a foreign flag were plenty of cause to wave an american flag, while saying something like "You don't like these colors? These colors don't run."

BTW, I have seen truants waving a foreign flag, and I stop and yell "If that is the flag of your allegiance, why not go there?" If I had an american flag I would surely wave it at that moment.

Either I don't understand your post, or you didn't understand what I wrote. I am AGAINST the principal's decision.

Now see you have a very valid point.
One that did not occur to me or did I read in the last 150 posts.

I have to agree the brats (no matter what ethnic background) that had inappropriate behavior should have been dealt with in private and all else should have continued.

I remember the riots of the late 60's and I would hope our Country does not repeat that bit of history. (just as a side note)

Thank You for your input.

Thank You.
