Phsstpok, thank you for your hard work and research.

For anyone reading the thread, I'd like to make a suggestion that we get back to activism on FR and try to drive the agenda rather than responding to the agenda-driven media.

Some freepers may remember that House Impeachment Managers gave a party to freepers (which was shown on C-Span) to thank us for our activism.

It is clear that amid all the noise the democrats and media make about primarily silly and made up complaints about the Bush administration, they are trying to deflect attention from more serious topics.

For example, ABC aired a synopsis of 12 hours of the Saddam tapes. It is clear the tapes will provide evidence that WMD were moved to Syria and that Saddam had a decade's long relationship with Al Qaeda. Both of those things are enough to defeat the Democrats in the November '06 election and the November '08 election. They have successfully, so far, deflected all attention away from the importance of the tapes.

As well, the President has ordered Negroponte to see to it that the tapes are translated and released. Negroponte has ignored a direct order from the President of the United States.

I'd like to suggest that freepers who are interested read the link below and make phone calls to their legislators, Condi Rice, John McCain (who will be interested in seeing to the defeat of Democrats) and any other interested parties. Perhaps the Chairmen of the Intelligence Committees and Armed Services Committees.

If any one has suggestions on how to best spread the word and how freepers can take effective action, I welcome all comments.

Thanks for the compliments. :-)

It's reassuring to know I am not the only one who enjoys taking whatever junky idea the Lefties have offered and following it through to its even junkier logical conclusion.

Additonal actions.

The annual Republican Lincoln Day dinners are going on around the country and many state are having their precinct caucauses this month, in preparation for county and state conventions/assemblies in April and May. These are great places to spread the word and educate those people on our side.

For states with a caucaus, this is the time that creates the leadership for the Republican party. From the ground up.

Maybe people who attend those meetings could take the newspaper article I referenced to the meetings for distribution.

I don't think Congress understands how important it is that support for the war in Iraq, including the rationale for war which included WMD and Saddam's 15 year relationship with Al Qaeda, is to the average person.

Good idea. I can do that, no problem. If you had to choose the best hand-outs to give people what would they be and would this be one of them?

It's an entire list of articles to read regarding the AQ/Saddam connections. I don't know why Republicans run away from this.

I've seen Lindsey Graham at least twice on Russerts show opposite a leftist who said that AQ wasn't in Iraq until the war and Lindsey said nothing. That's ridiculous. We know that AQ terrorists were paid hundreds of thousands of dollars a year and resided in Iraq.

We know that Clinton's federal indictment of OBL mentions that AQ has an agreement with Iraq not to attack Iraq in exchange for weapons development and training. In the 90's, the MSM (Newsweek, NYT, etc.) were all writing about the world alarm at the growing relationship between Saddam and AQ.

Since we can't prove WMD were transferred to Syria although there are eye witnesses), let's at least prove the AQ/Iraq connection. I read in our local newspaper every week this leftist rant that the president lied about this. I've written several letters to the editor providing evidence otherwise, but why aren't Congressmen doing it?

Oh, this would be another good article to distribute; eyewitnesses and every single person involved in the WMD hunt has talked about the possibility/likelihood that weapons went to Syria:

Last month Moshe Yaalon, who was Israel's top general at the time, said Iraq transported WMD to Syria six weeks before Operation Iraqi Freedom began.

Last March, John A. Shaw, a former U.S. deputy undersecretary of defense for international technology security, said Russian Spetsnaz units moved WMD to Syria and Lebanon's Bekaa Valley.

"While in Iraq I received information from several sources naming the exact Russian units, what they took and where they took both WMD materials and conventional explosives," Mr. Shaw told NewsMax reporter Charles Smith.

Retired Marine Lt. Gen. Michael DeLong was deputy commander of Central Command during Operation Iraqi Freedom. In September 2004, he told WABC radio that "I do know for a fact that some of those weapons went into Syria, Lebanon and Iran."

In January 2004, David Kay, the first head of the Iraq Survey Group which conducted the search for Saddam's WMD, told a British newspaper there was evidence unspecified materials had been moved to Syria from Iraq shortly before the war.

"We know from some of the interrogations of former Iraqi officials that a lot of material went to Syria before the war, including some components of Saddam's WMD program," Mr. Kay told the Sunday Telegraph.

Also that month, Nizar Nayuf, a Syrian journalist who defected to an undisclosed European country, told a Dutch newspaper he knew of three sites where Iraq's WMD was being kept. They were the town of al Baida near the city of Hama in northern Syria; the Syrian air force base near the village of Tal Snan, and the city of Sjinsar on the border with Lebanon.

In an addendum to his final report last April, Charles Duelfer, who succeeded David Kay as head of the Iraq Survey Group, said he couldn't rule out a transfer of WMD from Iraq to Syria.

"There was evidence of a discussion of possible WMD collaboration initiated by a Syrian security officer, and ISG received information about movement of material out of Iraq, including the possibility that WMD was involved. In the judgment of the working group, these reports were sufficiently credible to merit further investigation," Mr. Duelfer said.

In a briefing for reporters in October 2003, retired Air Force Lt. Gen. James Clapper Jr., who was head of the National Geospatial Intelligence Agency when the Iraq war began, said satellite imagery showed a heavy flow of traffic from Iraq into Syria just before the American invasion.

"I think the people below Saddam Hussein and his sons' level saw what was coming and decided the best thing to do was to destroy and disperse," Lt. Gen. Clapper said.

You have some TREMENDOUS IDEAS!

Would it br helpful for us to create a page (internet page) to reach our Reps?

I picture a page with a list of states.

each state is a link..that page has links to each Rep to contact.....

We can get people maybe to FReepmail the links for their state to one person willing to gather the info and create the page...

I have a web site and plenty of room to do this....(I think) LOL!

ummm.... not to be a smart ass, but it already exists and is conveniently maintained for us (at taxpayer expense) by the government itself

LOL!

Not a smartass at all!

okay.... I have this idea too...

what about a PRESS page for every state? With links to send editorials or comments to certain papers and/or news stations....?putting pressure on LOCAL stations and papers is much more effective than a knocking on the door at a national level... which AFF showed us with the "Book of Daniel" fiasco....

Just a thought....

I don't mind my ideas being shot down! LOL! or finding out I am late to the game again....

It is how I live and GROW!

That would be excellent!! What a huge undertaking and offer.

Before you even think about such a huge project, look at this:

http://www.congress.org/congressorg/home/

There are other easy web sites for people to access their congressmen; it's a matter of moving FR toward activism again.

what about a PRESS page for every state?

After a similar discussion a couple of weeks ago on an earlier preview thread I started trying to come up with a personal list of contacts to use when someone has a good catch, something that should be pointed out to the media so that they could "get a clue."  It was a more general idea than Peach's post this time, but it also came out of discussion with her, IIRC.  That's where the contacts for the weekend shows came from on this thread.  A few times I've posted to folks who've had a particularly good comment on another thread that touched on something on one of these shows and shared those links.  I'll admit I haven't done much about expanding that list, though.

Your notion of a state by state media links page is excellent.  Just as Senators and Congressmen are more responsive to their constituents, media will tend to listen to their own audience more.

With that in mind we may also want to organize lists by media market.  Memphis, for example, is in Tennessee, but has most of it's audience in extreme western Tennessee, eastern Arkansas, northern Mississippi and even the Missouri bootheel.  If you let them know that because of covereage they've done or avoided you're going to change stations and will also let their advertisers know that, they'll tend to listen up real quick like.

I am late today....you know the granddaughter thing...LOL

AND, I have to leave to go to the grocery store..but, I just wanted to touch base..

I saw the thread with Stephen Hayes' article about the Saddam Tapes...I was already looking forward to seeing him tonight...NOW, I am really excited.

Don't you think that Negroponte's history of UN Representatvie..plays into his reluctance in wanting to do this??? I can't figure out any other reason.

BUT, I am thrilled to read that President Bush isn't the one that is trying to keep them hidden.

To: Txsleuth; All

I just sent this to the GOP leader in my county...

Hi Anthony

This is Sherri... the red-headed gal from Acworth...I last saw you at the WGKA MOVIE event at Barrett and helped yo with your lists and guests, etc......

anyway..

I am LIVID!

Bush has NO blame on this Dubai Deal...

We can slam him for illegal immigration, spending, etc...

But on this... BUSH was STRONG- which is what we whine about him NOT being....

and better yet- he was THE COOL, CALM HEAD! Our REPS LIED TO US and TRICKED US!

let me explain:

Capitol Hill DEMANDED a 45 day review- CLAIMING they wanted to take a step back, slow down, and review the facts of the deal. (Dubai Deal)

When they were granted this compromise- they didn't DO ANY OF IT and SLAMMED the door in SIX DAYS!

SIX DAYS!

If my gas company gave me 45 days to pay my gas bill and then turned my gas off after 6 days.. I WOULD BE FURIOUS!

Could it be that Schumer and Company were so eager to slam this deal quickly because they feared THIS story was going to get out?

ELLER LOBBYED SCHUMER TO SQUELCH THE DEAL!

http://www.buffalonews.com/editorial/20060304/1068106.asp

Then Schumer RAN TO THE CAMERAS (and to quote Al GORE) "HE PLAYED ON OUR FEARS!" (be sure to insert the ROARING by Big Al)

another sad part in all this - is that the Republicans just marched over the ledge with this SCHMUCK! They tripped over themselves to lead the battle cry as the ones to to BREAK THEIR PROMISE TO US! GOOD GRIEF!

but the SADDEST part of the scandal is this- THEY HIJACKED OUR TROOPS TO DO IT!
My brother is ONE OF THESE BRAVE MEN! He has served in our forces since he graduated high school in 1987. He is now an officer- a FULL MAJOR in the Air Force... a REAL HERO! He has been in IRAQ for TWO TOURS.

I can win and lose issues...and take it....but I will NOT forgive the trickery of this... I will SUpport ANYONE who runs against Price, Isakson, Chambliss, etc....yeah- even GINGREY is on my list....

They single handedly sabotaged our base... causing a civil war within.. that could've EASILY been avioded with the opportunity for us all to weed out the facts instead of leading the charge to help SCHUMER with his lobbyist and UNIONS!

they were caught up in hyperbole.... I NEED and DEMAND MORE from ELECTED REPS!

Don't DARE BLAME BUSH! HE met their demands... THEY BROKE THE DEAL! They abandoned reason and our President for SCHUMER and HYSTERIA!

I realize you are just doing your job--(this is why I did not call your show and slam you on public air waves) keeping Republicans in office instead of Dems.. but I am very aware of the conservatives leaving the cause QUICKLY! VERY QUICKLY! I will not slam you for doing your job.. but I will certainly be honest with you...

I was able to swallow eminent domain.. the starving of Terri... the immigration..even the failing of this deal...

but I will NOT swallow the hijacking of the those that give our lives.. or the trickery of demanding 45 days then pulling the plug in 6 days..... NO WAY!

okay- I am done ranting....

God Bless.... (I am ranting TO you.. not AT you! I hope you understand...)

Sherri Reese
Acworth, GA

I'll let you know if and/or when I hear back....
