Analysts have begun to speculate on what "fun" products may be introduced by Apple its forthcoming special event in Cupertino on February 28th. Analyst Shaw Wu of American Technology Research believes that Apple will announce a new wide-screen consumer notebook and an entry-level Mac mini, both of which will include a remote control and Front Row software, saying "we believe Apple will take the opportunity to round out its Intel Mac portfolio 6 - 9 months ahead of plan." Wu also expects the much anticipated native versions of Apple's Pro applications--Universal Binary versions of Aperture, Final Cut Pro, and Motion, which are expected to be ready to ship in March. According to his report, he also says there is a "greater than 50 percent chance" that Apple will announce its first full-length feature film available on iTunes, as well as the announcement that iTunes has received more than 1 billion downloads.
With regards to rumors of a new video iPod, Wu says that "while we believe a widescreen vPod has been under development, we do not believe it is the right time to release it.
"Keep in mind the current vPod has only been out since October and continues to be a top seller, the least seasonally impacted out of the iPod family. Areas we would like to see the vPod improve on are its video battery life and more robust TV connectivity." However, Apple discontinued the extremely popular iPod mini in favor of the iPod nano last September.
Wu also mentioned that Steve Jobs may, of course, make a surprise announcement "that no one anticipated. We will not attempt to guess what it is and let Steve surprise us."
The firm reiterated its "buy" rating for Apple's stock (AAPL), leaving the target price at $101.

"Analyst predicts new Apple products"
What a freaking genius. What else, other than new products, could be introduced. I mean, seriesly.
I predict that Jeopardy will be on some TVs tonight, as well.

Ha, yeah. It would be news if Apple weren't making new products.
Steve Jobs said earlier today that "we believe the current offering of iPods and Mac Minis will carry us several decades into the future."

Although this almost rises the level of "Analyst predicts night will fall," it is still worth an Apple and Mac PING!

The price will drop once the new Mac Intels come out. The Power PC Apple will become collectors' items. That should enhance their appeal to Macnatics. After all who wants another boring Intel machine? Been there, done that.
