Sen. Clinton raises healthcare as issue ROCHESTER, N.Y., Jan. 24 (UPI) -- Healthcare may become the main issue in the re-election effort of U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, D-N.Y., who says the Bush administration has neglected it.
Speaking at the University of Rochester Medical Center, Clinton said, "I'm ready to get back into the fray, knowing how difficult and controversial it is. The status quo is not sustainable," CNN reported.
During a campaign tour, Sen. Clinton described President Bush's Medicare prescription drug plan as a "confusing and complex transition." She said many elderly residents are now paying far more for drugs than before and are being hampered by paperwork.
Clinton also said the administration is not doing enough to help the 45 million Americans who have no health insurance or to lower healthcare costs, which consume 15 percent of the nation's gross domestic product, the report said.
"The response in Washington to our healthcare crisis has been to cut Medicaid, erode patent protections and to promote strategies that increase costs and reduce access to care," she said.

Medicaid NEVER, NEVER gets cut. Mrs. Clinton really means, in her canny little way, that DC has reduced the amount of an increase in Medicaid.
And speaking of public health care...have you ever seen public housing? I rest my case.

"confusing and complex transition." Hillary Clinton wants to lecture George Bush about a confusing and complex healthcare plan. This is just too much!

:?)
Germany's nationalized health care system has found a way to deal with the rising cost of serious illness.
They take a while to have your papers show up, and then they let you die.
I'm convinced that that's exactly what the Democratic Party of Death, party of suicide, party of abortion, party of euthanasia has in mind. They just won't say so at the outset.

Hillary Care is back on the table???
I still don't think it will pick up any steam, most Americans enjoy quality healthcare through their companies, why would they get rid of it to end up with Canada-Care ?
To: xzins
Sen. Xlinton IS a healthcare issue. Certifiable.

If CanadaCare is so great, there are no immigration restrictions.
Why aren't a boatload of US citizens moving there?

The "Aw Jeez, not this sh*t again" picture should be the official Republican response to this.

This language is impenetrable. I have absolutely no idea what her point is.
I always feel a profound drowsiness coming on when listening to the senator speak. The American people will save a bundle on their prescription sleeping medications if she becomes president, as insomnia will be wiped out overnight.

Rochester is in Monroe County. The county offers a prescription program to ALL its residents thanks to Maggie Brooks. The city finally got rid of its Ferry "money spending" Mayor. Never has so much money been spent on such a farce.
Mayor Duffy canned the ferry and the whole matter is now being investigated by the FBI.

"Germany's nationalized health care system has found a way to deal with the rising cost of serious illness."
Also, don't forget about the massive tax system in place for the healthy working class. While in Germany, I learned that the average German pays nearly 65 percent of their income to the government.
Can you imagine Americans being taxed at 65 percent? There would be rioting in the street!

The health care "crisis" can be cured very simply - get rid of the insurance companies. Drs fees would decrease. I work in a hospital's business office, the abuses of medicaid are ridiculous.

M Tick tock, tick tock...
Hillary is clearly desperate for a topic she hopes will seize the day. But it really is shocking that the smartest woman in the world would dare bring up health care again. < /snicker>
