Ladies, if you love your man, give him cauliflower curry with a side of kale for dinner. It may stave off prostate cancer, according to research released yesterday by Rutgers University.

Though they don't often make the favorite menus of most men, cauliflower and kale -- along with cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, kohlrabi, watercress and turnips -- contain a chemical that is a significant cancer-preventive.

Sounds like an effective, cheap, preventative.

It'll be banned like red yeast rice was banned because it lowered cholesterol levels naturally.

Even if this were true it still wouldn't be worth it.

Red Yeast Rice or Red Rice Yeast is not banned. You can buy it at Walmart.

Sounds like crap. There are a thousand other things I'd rather eat. However, when I think of life in a hospital bed, I guess it's worth acquiring a taste for this kind of thing.

I have a great recipe for cauliflower curry. Maybe I'll make it next week!

'cauliflower and kale -- along with cabbage, broccoli, brussels sprouts, kohlrabi, watercress and turnips'

Sounds like we have a BBQ here. Got to watch America's Test Kitchen for details.

Yeah...but is it worth smelling? I dunnno? It seems like there are other preventative means without smelling like an Indian Food Restaraunt 24/7/365.

There is such a thing as cauliflower curry (two great tastes, but not so sure they taste great together)? If so, post up the recipe.

:-)

If cancer is what it takes to avoid eating that stuff, so be it.

I see no reason to live miserably in order to live longer.

The article doesn't exactly say, but what am I supposed to do with the curry?

I lived in England in the 70's. The only thing open after the pubs closed was Indian restaurants. I loved the spiciest Vindilu (sp) curries. They would create a hostile environment in my colon that I almost died from. I'm not surprised that pathogens can't live there either.

The attempt to ban red yeast rice wasn't successful.

"They would create a hostile environment in my colon that I almost died from."

Yellow curry, particularly at the concentrations used by many Indian restaurants, causes me some digestive discomfort, but red curry does not. Why that is, I really don't know. Thai cooking uses a lot of red curry.
