Do not DARE call Islamists Kamikaze
Vanity | 08/26/05 | Ronin

Posted on 08/25/2005 11:00:49 PM PDT by Ronin

What man, who calls himself a man, would not fail to put himself into harms way to defend his home, his family, his nation?

It is always politically correct to stipulate that Japan was the aggressor at the beginning of the war. There is no doubt that Japan was defeated at the end of the war. After the many many years that have passed, I find it extremely difficult to find or analyze the root causes of the Pacific War, and frankly, I am not interested in that part of it.

What I strongly object to the increasingly common characterization of Islamic suicide bombers as “Kamikaze.”

Kamikaze – Divine Wind – generally refers to two things. Originally, it referred to a typhoon which was responsible for destroying a Mongol fleet bent on invading Japan. Later, in the Pacific War, it was used to designate the members of special suicide airplane pilots, submariners and even just small boat operators who hurled their explosive packed vessels against the enemy – and yes, that was us Americans and our allies.

That kind of thinking was incomprehensible to Americans. American Soldiers, Sailors and Marines went into battle with the clear understanding that they might, could, and most probably would, be killed – but not with absolute certainty. Indeed, I can confidently suppose that their fondest hope was to get home alive.

There were, of course, individual acts of heroic valor where a warrior would, faced with overwhelming odds, would gallantly sacrifice himself to save his comrades, but it was certainly never a part of national defense, or religious, policy.

Part of that is our Judeo-Christian heritage -- which abhors the idea of suicide in any form – but the most important part, in my mind at least, is the pioneer heritage of all Americans which stresses and exults survival. Survival in the face of all odds, survival in the face of all enemies, survival – but above all, survival with honor.

And that is the key! Honor!

Simple survival itself is meaningless. Cowards do it. And do it regularly. Nobody has anything but contempt for any man who abandons his loved ones in the face of peril. Our greatest heroes are those who died valiantly fighting against overwhelming odds – in defense of those they loved.

So did the Kamikaze go forth on their missions. To die. Striking the enemy warriors who were most definitely determined to kill them. One part of it was the Bushido creed – the Japanese warrior code. “Duty is as heavy as a mountain – death is as light as a feather.” But that is not, by any means, all of it. Or… in many cases, I am sure, the most part of it.

What most people see to forget is that the Kamikaze were defending their homes. They were defending their families. They were defending their nation. They were going out to do battle against warriors as warriors. To die. They knew it. They accepted it. Without any hope of survival at all.

To die. With honor. With the respect of their families and loved ones, their comrades in arms, their Emperor.

They didn’t do it way any guarantee of future happiness. Certainly with no hope or Paradise. Afterlife, in Buddhist or Shinto canon is an undecided. An individual Kamikaze might have had a personal belief in an afterlife of sorts, but it was certainly not a point clarified by dogma of any universally accepted kind.

They died as warriors deserving of honor – and I honor them.

Contrast this with the Islamic suicide bombers and the difference is profound.

Islam teaches, or at least a great many Islamic teachers teach, that death in the fight for Islam guarantees automatic admission to Paradise – where they will be waited upon by 72 virgins who will serve all of their desires and feed them delicious food and drink for eternity.

Christian men and women, on the other hand, face life’s test without any firm guarantee that they will eventually find succor in The Lord God. Some Christians may debate this, but they all believe that their actions, in this world, will be examined in the transition to the next.

I am not familiar enough with the Jewish faith to comment on their beliefs, but I am confident enough to surmise that no Jewish man or woman who blows themselves up in a crowded train or plane is expecting to go to Heaven. One can even surmise that the few who do commit acts of terrorism do so in the full expectation that God will punish them for their actions.

Is not, then, an Islamic suicide bomber a despicable coward? Is he not then, taking the coward’s way out?

Is he not then, using the ultimate “Get out of Jail Free” card? To die on the promise of eternal Paradise, regardless of any previous sins which might have to be reckoned with?

Is not then an Islamist suicide bomber the most contemptible of cowards? A person who is willing to kill innocents simply to ensure he, himself, enjoys the full fruits of Paradise? To refuse to compete? To cut class? To fail to even try to meet the challenges of life’s test?

No…. Whatever they are, they are not martyrs. They are not heroes. They are beyond contempt.

And they certainly are not, Kamikaze.

A commment on another thread got me worked up. I composed this in response, but since I put so much work into it, I thought it deserved it's own thread.

Domo Arigato, Ronin!

Suicide freaks like the Islamo-nuts out there have NO honor.
I willnever refer to those animals with the word "kamikaze" again.

The kamikaze never attacked civilians. Never. The notion of a Japanese pilot prepared to sacrifice his life against an awesome and unstoppable fleet who deliberately turned and attacked a crowd of defenseless women and children at a market is simply unthinkable, and that one would have been disowned by his fellows as a man of no honor whatever.

There is, or used to be, a sense of honor in Islam as well, or so the stories of Saladin tell us. What it has become in the hands of its current keepers is a pure, unadulterated horror that shames human existence. It will lose because it has no honor.

Whatever the reason for blowing up a schoolyard full of kids , I hope only the very worst in return for whoever does it.

There needs to be a stop put to the Islamics claim that they worship the same God as Jews and Christians. Islamics are Satan worshipers, plain and simple. Why this abomination, this cult of death, is treated with respect by our leaders or anyone else is beyond the pale.

Don't forget the fact that the Kamikaze planes only had enough gas for a one way trip !

I knew a Kamikaze pilot for 10 years and he said they had no choice because their family got food when they were in Kamikaze training and the Gov't promised to take care of their families after they gave their last Kamikaze run !

He was lucky the war ended before his last flight !

Death before dishonor. Suicide rather than surrender was very common in Japan before and after the failed Mongol invasion in 1281. The Heike Monogatari and Taiheiki are rife with "death before dishonor" suicides when all was lost for near-defeated samurai and/or civilians. Oda Nobunaga took his own life when facing sure death, the 47 Ronin took theirs after avenging their fallen Lord's death, and General Nogi Maresuke took his life in 1912 right after the Meiji Emperor died. Such were the tales that emboldened (brainwashed?) the kamikaze of WWII to do what the did - warrior to warrior.

Certainly nothing to compare to the cowardly tactics of Islamo-fascist terrorists.

DTogo's Japan * ping * (kono risuto ni hairitai ka detai wo shirasete kudasai : let me know if you want on or off this list):

Yes, that is true. The families of the Kamikaze got some additional benefits.

I know a few JASDF pilots and have been introduced to at least one old-timer who never got his orders to go out and blow himself up. But the point of my article remains the same. They were defending their families and they were attacking armed foes!

They were not going out to blow up innocent women and children. They were going out to do battle with warriors.

They do not talk about it much, but the JASDF reveres the Kamikaze -- as they should.

Were there any kamikaze attacks at Pearl Harbor

Read the article again. That was answered.

By the way, more than on American pilot intentionally took his plane into either an enemy plane or an enemy ship, some with no bombs, only machine guns in the heat of battle. Happened both in the Pacific as well as Europe.

And he said "No man cometh unto the Father except throught Me".

Pretty much rules out anyone who denies him as God's Son and Savior.

Desperation is the reason behind any suicide, whether it's an individual who's depressed, a wild-eyed Muslim whose 8th century life in a modern world is so miserable he prefers death to living, or a kamakaze pilot who knows his country is being badly defeated so in desperation volunteers to end his life to kill many 'enemy'.

It's all sick stuff, and we ourselves are fast becoming enamored of death, with the legalization of abortion and euthenasia promising to make our own lives "better". I know I digress here, but we had better take a long look at this 'culture of death' phenomenon before we get trapped in it too.

Back to the point, the Islamic suicide squads only serve to prove they will continue to lose their 'jihad' against better people, whom they envy and hate. By-and-large, the Western world views life as a great gift from God and something very precious. I believe this is because we have been blessed by God. Conversely, Islamofacists view life as something cheap, which is a huge insult to God and something that pleases Satan, the "god' of Islam.

So let the desperate, self-abhoring Muslims try to terrorize the world, because they will end up uniting the world against them. Islam is already doomed, and all this bloody terrorism is merely the swan song from Hell.

NO. As I recall the kamikazi attacks came much later when the U.S. was closing in on mainland Japan. It was something of a last ditch effort to turn the tide of the war.

Huh? It isn't just politcally correct, it's historically factual. You must have learned your history from the Hiroshima peace museum.
