How to Lose a War

Thursday's attack in London is the latest blow struck in the war that began on Sept. 11. Its origins are easy to fathom: A minority of Muslim extremists, their numbers in the few millions, resents deeply the erosion of life in the Middle East and other Muslim areas. A globalized communications system reminds them daily how far behind a Pakistan is from India, how much better a South Korea or China is doing than Egypt, or how more humane life is in an Infidel North America or Europe than in Syria or Algeria.

Why don't these gutless wonders stay in their own countries and do something about it?

VDC is right as always... The Dems were out in full force yesterday pushing the line that London attack was the result of our actions. It is all Bush's fault. If we could find out what it is the Islamist want we can compromise and end the pain... What they want, Senator Dodd, is your head detached from your body.

It is fascinating to note that even Hanson, with the historical perspective to know better, has gone, since 911, from naked anger to warm PC accomodation to a hard nose reality about the enemy. Hard ultimatums?

History will note, and perhaps list, the thousands of victims that were sacrificed before the proper and effective response was implemented: and it must be plain, uncomplicated, ruthless, uncompromising, one-sided and all-encompassing.

The stakes are survival with a minimum of friendly casualties; and as many enemy casualties as possible to make it plain that the end of Western tolerance has been exceeded.

Asymmetric warfare must result in the end of civilization as we know it or the end of islam. No compromise is possible.

Correct, but let the looney left keep it up. The American public is smart enough to know the right answer, and thats why they will loose BIG TIME in 2008

Yep. Sooner some of our appeasing leadership realizes this the better. The 'Old Guard' has got to go: how can we fight this war with idiots like Durbin, Dodd, Kennedy, Murray, etc etc in the Senate, in supposedly positions of leadership? It's either lead, follow, or get the hell out of the way. Unfortunately we have a political class that thinks it is royalty and entitled to serve for life. Time to wake some of these calcified moribund fat-*sses up and kick them out of office.

Or stick their feet in the fire - these sympathizers to terrorists are the Politically Correct; the Socialists who fail to realize they will not be invited to the last supper – terrorists do not like cowards; have no respect for any law but their own ill-conceived, misinterpreted militant view of Islam. These murdering Islamic thugs use Political Correctness as the divisive Howitzer it is intended to be….and Durbin, Dodd, Kennedy, Murray, “centrist” Clinton, Reid, Leahy, Schumer, etc. are like Schmoos in their race to see who can be the most Politically Correct…in the end will be “eaten”, i.e., killed by terrorists who have no patience with such idiots – other than to use them now as Useful Idiots. Political Correctness is the Achilles Heel of America and the Terrorists know it!

key point, especially about the minimum casualties. 2 years ago, I freep-posted how the force correllary now was in our greatest favor, and that now (currently the paradigm still exists...) was the time to take the offensive to the terror-states when they could not contest us conventionally, we could minimize civilian collateral damage, and minimize our own casualties. Now is the best chance - perhaps the last chance - for Liberty to grow in the former Kaliph.

The alternative, then as now, still is valid... if we allow our left to emasculate our actions in the WOT, the consequences will be worse (as unimaginable as that can be...) then Post Vietnam. Then, we had the shame of a broken promise to an ally forced upon us by the dhimmicrat controlled congress. Then, the ensueing genocide - morbid as the next may sound - took about 5 million lives.

Now, the potential horror is much greater, even to the point where the tragedy of cambodia would look pale by comparison. If these terror-states get relatively strong enough to where they can challenge us conventionally (more likely from a loss of nerve inspired by dean/hillary/kerry/pelosi/durbin, etc...) the response will be a holocaust, likely nuclear, in which hundreds of millions will die. And I don't think Americans will do the major portion of that dying; push comes to shove and we get to the point where there's no other choice, the Arab mid-east will become the world's biggest mirror.

The irony is, if the left has it's way, it would likely fall upon a dhimmicrat government to pull the trigger... essentially meaning that those very same opponents to the current war - through their opposition-at-any-cost - increase the chances of a mighty holocaust happening.

To any muslim, here or otherwise, who may be reading this, take proper heed of the terrible risk your terrorist brothers are running... it's high time you started acting like your religion really is a "Religion of Peace".

The alternative is chaos.

...the latest blow struck in the war that began on Sept. 11

Hansen is unusually wrong here. The war began with the '79 Iranian Hostage Crises. Only one side had fought it until 9/11.

Actually it started several centuries ago when the Moors invaded Europe.

"Jefferson inquired of his European hosts how they dealt with the problem. He was stunned to find out that France and England both paid tribute to the fiends – who would, in turn, use the money to expand their own armada, buy more weaponry, hijack more commercial ships, enslave more innocent civilians and demand greater ransom."

Gee the Europeans were appeasing even then. And the Muslims were terrorists. Some things never change.
