Bogota, Feb 1 (EFE).- The mayor of a northern Colombian town was wounded in the buttocks when a pistol in his pocket accidentally discharged while he was taking down his pants to use the toilet at a small general store, the local press reported Tuesday.
Rafael Augusto Galan, mayor of Ramiriqui, was recovering in a hospital in the provincial capital of Tunja following the embarassing mishap Monday.

Ping. You won't believe this.
that mayor must have a real pain-in-the-a$$
/jasper
Must be a democrat--they can't even shoot themselves in the foot properly!
but his holster should have prevented this unless of course he is one of those pistola in the waistband kind of knuckleheads
Sounds like a buttstock problem.
No, he has to have a pistol because Hugo Chavez's Marxist terrorists are all over the place. Hugo gives them a lot of cash and comfort. Colombia has a big problem with communists and every mayor has got to be armed.
Yes, but to go off, it was probably cocked. I suppose he could have hung the hammer on something while pulling his pants down, but it isn't likely given that it was probably a small caliber weapon, the size of which one might carry in the pocket. The .25's and .22's would have a very small frame and very small hammer, making it difficult to hang it on anything.
Good thing it wasn't in his front pocket
Who, what, when, where, and why.
It's good to know that the old journalistic standards are still being upheld somewhere in the world.
That's why the round in the chamber of my Davis is never a hydrashock! :)
At least a fmj won't blow off a bun!
9mm according to the article.
And of course he had a legit CCW permit in Kalifornia, right????
If you're going to pack heat, don't do it cocked with a live one in the chamber and the safety off.
Is that a pistol in yer pocket?
No, I'm just happy to see you.
LOL
