The WC ghost, a £6 voice-alarm, reprimands men for standing at the lavatory pan. It is triggered when the seat is lifted. The battery-operated devices are attached to the seats and deliver stern warnings to those who attempt to stand and urinate (known as "Stehpinkeln").

In German, the phrase for someone who sits and urinates, a "Sitzpinkler", is equivalent to "wimp".

Sorry if this makes me an ungracious guest in someone's home, but I might be inclined to just leave the sonofabitch in the toilet. After I stamped on it with my motorcycle boots a couple of times.

In our household, it's OK to have the toilet seat up ... because we have a cat who pees in the toilet. Everyone should be so lucky!

-That's the one which is another microcosm of the ideological divide. Who in hell ever gave women the idea that the "correct" position of a toilet seat after a man urinates is to be back down? This is that kind of unspoken unchallenged liberal type person's arrogance and unconsciousness that they know the "right" thing. The best are those signs demanding that you leave the seat down. As if the woman's convenience is more important than the next man who comes in.
I could never figure out what was the thinking (if any) behind this. Is it that some women do not want to reminded that there are men in the world and they use th e toilet differently. And that this peculiar desire should trump any other desire. ????

That was my first reaction too. I can't beleive this is real, or if it is that it has gained popularity to the extent that it has a whole syndrome named after it! But hey, maybe thats just gay Paree for you...
Only the man who is intimidated by the sound of his pee cascading into the water, will miss the commode and pee on the floor.
I raise the seat so as to not pee on it and lower it as demanded to afterwards.
That is as far as I am compromising with this PC horse hockey.
