9/11 reform bill: Con position ( Orange county Representatives speak out on their votes )
The Orange County Register ^ | Sunday, December 12, 2004 | Dana Rohrabacher Republican congressman from Huntington Beach

Posted on 12/13/2004 10:50:23 AM PST by Ernest_at_the_Beach

Along with 74 of my House colleagues, I voted against the so-called intelligence reform legislation passed by Congress last week. First and foremost, the changes brought about by this bill will not prevent another catastrophic terrorist attack on the United States like the one we suffered on 9-11. This legislative effort was designed to make people feel safer because they perceive something is being done. Unfortunately, any sense of security as a result of this bill is illusionary.

The fact that Dana feels compelled to defend his vote less than one week after he cast it suggests that he is already seeing the political downside of his little protest vote.

Regardless of how much the protesters spin and excuse, they will always be viewed as anti-Hispanic. No matter how many good things Dana does, he will always be remember for this vote.

Regardless of what other causes he champions he will always be defined as anti-Hispanic. Wherever he goes he will always listen for those whispers behind his back about him.

No top flight campaign manager would ever sign on with him if he chose to run for a higher office. (Which may be his only option after the next redristricting places him in a majority Hispanic district)

Some downside...except for the Senate and White House. The house bill that "Dana" wanted and had the provisions in it passed by 68%. You really have a low opinion of the American People.

How about a poll asking people if they would vote for a racist xenophobe?

Those who voted against the intelligence bill will forever be known as anti-Hispanic. They'll never be able to shake that reputation.

I see that you are still spewing your La Raza talking points and are still using key words such as "racist", "xenophobe", and "anti-Hispanic" in your bigoted spiel.
