Rush might want to apply this to the NFL as well.
To: Tumbleweed_Connection
Well put Rush!!!
It is why I stopped being a basketball fan over ten years ago -- the game is no longer respectable.

As a fan, I'm not going to tolerate being dissed, either. So I've turned off the NBA for good. ;)

"Rush might want to apply this to the NFL as well."And college football, at least here in Florida. Bowden has had his share of gangstas and felons at FSU.
And baseball isn't that far behind.
Hit da ball ... get da check.

It is why I stopped being a basketball fan over ten years ago...When the federal government became obsessed about "Midnight Basketball" under the Clinton Administration, it insured that the game was on its way to being ghetto-ized. NBA and NFL games have become "Thug-Ball".

The NBA doesn't play what I call basketball. Ten steps a dribble and no passing or plays. Just showboat moves and they act like every basket is a home-run with a dance.
I like high school and college basketball. I'd say high school is the best. The kids play hard and do it while having fun. Go to your local school games and the heck with the NBA.

Wait. Miami far outshadows FSU in that department in look and style. Bad first choice for Florida.

Somehow, the subject of midnight baseball came up with a neighbor one day last week. She is from here in Arizona and I am from upstate NY.
She had no idea what I was talking about and had never even heard of such a thing.
I tried to explain to her what it was like driving on my way home late at night, past a large project and seeing 100 young inner city kids playing basketball on a lighted court at 12 am was like...it was creepy.

Yes, I think the modern day basketball game should go like this...give both sides 100 points, play for 5 minutes to determine the winner. It's over.

Is Media Matters running this as a way of pointing out all the awful, evil, inaccurate things said in the "Conservative Media"???

What everyone thinks but is afraid to say - "We need an NBA that looks more like America".
Every argument the left makes for affirmative action could be applied to professional sports. Surely athletic ability is distributed equally among all ethnic groups. So if an ethnic group is not proportionally represented in a particular sport it must be caused by defacto institutional racism. It is not necessary to prove particular instances of racism. The end result is proof that it exists. We need outreach and special development programs for under-represented groups.
Finally, shouldn't Title IX apply to races as well as gender in school athletics? Shouldn't sports teams in high schools and colleges represent the student body in all respects?

Is Media Matters running this as a way of pointing out all the awful, evil, inaccurate things said in the "Conservative Media"???Yup. That's all they do. To them, the only media in the entire nation are Fox News and radio talk shows.
I wonder how much longer Soros will fund them, now that Kerry's lost.

While I agree that the NBA has deteriorated over the past couple of decades, calling it a gang mentality may be a bit of a stretch. Have the colors really changed over the years to reflect gang colors? I doubt it. It would be more accurate to call it a "selfish" or "entitled" mentality. You could probably more accurately apply the gang label to hockey, where fighting is essentially accepted.
Make no mistake. I am not defending the current NBA, they pretty much lost me in the early nineties, when it became clear the regular season meant nothing other than who gets seeded where in the playoffs, and players whose teams were down by thirty points put on chest-thumping celebrations after a dunk.

I am much of your opinion, Palming the ball seems to be normal, Double dribbling, walking even pushing and shoving are ignored, especially when its done by the higher priced players.
To: RicocheT
I think there is way too much emphasis put on spectator sports in general in this nation, and professional sports in particular. I often draw incredulous looks when I say that if all professional sports in the world suddenly disappeared overnight, not only would it not affect me, but society in general would be improved. The only people truly affected would be those directly involved in sports...the players, coaches, merchandisers, and alas, all those friggin' sports "commentators" would be out of a job. Max Kellerman, Jim Rome, Tony Corn-hole, Chris Berman, et al would then be able to find employment more in line with their talent...like picking up dog crap in city parks.
Don't get me wrong...athletic activity is very important for everyone. Team sports can teach kids important vitally lessons, if only the dumba** parent would sit down, shut up and quit trying to relive their past "glory" through their kid's Pop Warner game. The problem is We the Increasingly Stupid American Sheeple have placed waaaaaaaay too much importance on entertainment...movies, music, sports, etc...and don't give a rat's patoot about things that do matter...like our wide open borders, the coming war with China, the country's steady march to the Left, etc.
Sorry 'bout the rant...I just argued this last night with a co-worker and am still pretty raw about it.
