The Justice Department is demanding records on a liberal Internet site that lists delegates to the Republican National Convention and urges protesters to give them an unwelcome reception, the NY TIMES is planning to splash on Monday, newsroom sources tell DRUDGE.

Federal prosecutors said in a subpoena that the information was needed as part of a criminal investigation into possible voter intimidation.

But civil rights advocates argue that the Internet postings amount to political dissent, not threats or intimidation.

NYT repporter Eric Lichtblau set to detail how: "The grand jury investigation comes at a time when federal officials have mounted an aggressive effort to identify what they say could be violence by political demonstrators in New York and at other major political events."

Because they say so? Gee, if the Pubbies had pulled this Gestapo cr@p, I don't think these civil rights types would be defending the Pubbies...

Sounds like the DNC through one of their 527s' was targetting our RNC Delegates for terrorist action or intimidation. I hope the case is prosecuted to the fullest extent of the Law.

See my post 10.

Any terrorist could just check and find what hotels RNC delegates are staying.

This is highly irresponsible action, but when did the anti-everything protesters act responesibly?

I expect that Drudge will take the position:

"Another example of the Justice Dept. preventing the exercize of "Free Speech" - What's this country coming to! What's so wrong with listing the names of the delegates, they are public knowledge"

I would answer, "If this shoe were on the other foot, then the Dems, and their media allies, would be raising holy hell. The Dems would be charging 'voter intimidation'"

Kerry and the VVAW believed it was political desent to aid the NV when the NV were attacking our troops by having more demostrations. Here is the link to the FBI files that talks about the VVAW getting a call from the NV communists.

Yes the VVAW did cost American lives, read this from the FBI report.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/1201299/posts

And I now of the information fromthe FBI files that the VVAW voted Yea, and then acted upon the vote.

On the other hand, I recall an incident during the impeachment fracas--also an internet posting--where a Freeper posted something about Clinton deserving to be punished as a traitor, and sure enough, he found law enforcement (FBI? Secret Service? I don't recall) on his doorstep within hours. Internet or not, I think there are limits to what you can say, write or post. Threats and intimidation aren't specifically guaranteed in the 1st Amendment.

Speaking of last election, didn't Bob Beckel intimidate, threaten and/or attempt to bribe Republican delegates to the electoral college to change their vote?

Makes me feel good that I turned their slime ball butts in, with all the links, to the Security Officer to go to the MIB. Obviously it did make it up the chain and got some interest.
