THE question that must be asked in BergerGate

Were the documents Sloppy Burglar returned INSPECTED FOR ALTERATION?

He tried to take THE Millenium report and ALL copies and drafts. WHY would he take them KNOWING the report HAD to be there eventually and would be missed? Surely the plan wasn't to take all of this information and not replace it.

To me, it's pretty obvious. He took them so he could return a "clean" copy and drafts. This is why he had to get rid of all previous copies, so there wouldn't be a discrepancy in copies of the report. Some reports he stuffed in his pants, jacket, and socks. Others he flushed down the toilet during his bathroom breaks.

Must be something pretty big in the original copy; otherwise, why such desperation?

Call your congressmen and women, Senators, radio stations, and write to your local newspapers. We MUST find out what the original report and drafts said and compare them to the report and drafts that Clinton's Burglar returned. Obviously, the ones he said were "accidentally destroyed" were ones he hadn't altered yet. There's something so damning in the missing docs that Sloppy Burglar would rather them be missing altogether and face those consequences than to reveal what they actually said.

You aren't the first person to ask about that. Could they have been sanitized??

I wrote the following on another thread.

Fact of the matter is if any of us did this we would be indicted and tried.
And that's what should happen to Berger. It doesn't matter if he put them in his back pocket or socks or underwear. It doesn't matter what the document was about or if they were copies or if he brought them back or what he wanted to do with them. Those issues will be screaed about but are smoke and mirrors -- distractions from the core issue.

He seems to have comitted a felony and needs his day in court.

It is important that he be tried and convicted if he is found guilty of committing this felony. He has essentially admitted it already.

Berger is a dangerous person and should never have been in the position Clinton put him in. If he is rightly convicted of this felony he will have had his public service (such as it is) career ended and that will be a very good thing the the United States.

His theft of serial versions (in time) of a report
heralds that the reports had slight differences.

Those differences indicated that the "facts" were manufactured.

After being stuffed into his underwear, I damn well hope so!

[OK, it was immature, but I needed a laugh.]

Aren't the originals digitally recorded somewhere? Isn't that part of the NA charter?

Amen! He has admitted to a felony. Accident or not, let him serve as an example to the next Clinton flunky who thinks he can "inadvertenly" stuff TOP SECRET classified documents in his underwear and flush them down the toilet. Gosh I hate it when that happens.

Let's read the statute on taking such classified docs and what the punishment is. I'm pretty sure there isn't an escape clause for sloppy people who "accidentally" stuff them in their socks and walk out.

I think I'll go to a costume party around Halloween, wearing a suit with papers sticking out from under the sleeves, collar, zipper, pant legs all stamped TOP SECRET. Then I'll greet people with "Hi! I'm Sandy Burglar!"

On second thought...how about we protest the demo convention and events in Sandy costumes. You out there Protest Warriors???

Is National Archives the only location for these materials? Is there somewhere else a microfilm, or a hard copy?

LOL

Thanks. I needed that laugh, too. Bergergate has me wound up rather tight.

What are we going to call this mess? Bergergate? If they caught him in action on camera I like "Socks, Lies, & Videotape"

I don't know if other copies exist on microfilm, etc. I wish I did know. Even if they do exist, Sloppy Burglar must have thought he could get away with it. Imagine how many documents there are in the National Archives. You think somebody has a job to check the actual papers against the back-ups unless there's a specific reason to?

I think we have good reason now.

That's a very good question.

I believe that an equally important question is: Who else knew what Berger was up to?
I will never believe that Berger, on his own, decided that certain classified documents needed to be stolen. Somebody else knew. Berger did not act totally on his own without telling a soul, no freakin' way. There are other people who are currently sweating, big time.

This is where the whole thing will get Watergate-ish.

Does anyone think that Hildabeast is somehow connected with this?

It seems to all lead back to Bubba. Sandy was at the Archives at his request to sort through papers about 9/11. The questions are: Will Sandy take the fall or roll over like a dog? And if he decides to roll, can he prove it?

Oh, I absolutely agree. He was acting on someone else's behalf. No doubt in my mind. The list of such people I can count on one hand and have a few fingers left over.

Now then, Sandy, you can take a trip to Gitmo or just tell us NOW.

Hillary? OH, yeah. In fact, I'll bet you dinner the leak of this whole story goes to her and the demos. They knew this story would be coming out so they wanted to get it out now, right before the 911 Commission report, hoping the media will forget it when the 911 report comes out and that we'll all just shrug our shoulders and say "Gee, poor Sandy. I guess he just made an honest mistake." The demos also don't want this coming out right after their convention or any closer to the election.

Or, if you really want to go the Hillary conspiracy route, how about this Berger trail goes back to KERRY, and Hillary knows it? Kerry has to step aside, and then guess who the democrats beg to jump in there??? Hmmmm.

I laugh when the demos suggest this was a GOP leak. NO way. This is typical demo/Clinton MOP. Get the bad news out there, put your spin on it, and then move on to something big. You know, like admitting you had oral sex with an intern in the Oral, I mean OVAL office, right before you unload some cruise missiles? No, there's not a great time for this story to come out for the donkeys, but it's the lesser of evils. After the 911 report comes out would be worse. Right after the demo convention would be worse. October would be worse. It the DEMOS who wanted this story out now.

"He seems to have comitted a felony and needs his day in court."

Damn straight. If Berger walks, what message does that send to everyone else who holds a security clearance?

"Hey we know we drilled you about proper handling of secure documents, but we really weren't serious. Pass me that file named "umbra" and I'll spot you 50 grand...."

Also go to www.usdoj.gov and you will find contact info for Ashcroft -- tell him he must charge Berger.
