Dr.Tom Coburn is the former Oklahoma House Representative who is running to replace SenNickles. He is a staunch conservative and would do a great job for Oklahoma and the entire nation. Breaking news? Maybe not.

Coburn is supported by Steven Moore and the Club for Growth, as a tax-cutting small government fiscal conservative.

Where does it say breaking news? Coburn would be a great senator, and may be the only guy who can keep the seat.

Sorry, this is my first post of an article. I wasn't exactly sure what to check. Dr. Coburn reminds me of the character Jimmy Stewart played in "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington." I hope he does shake stuff up in the Senate.

Coburn is a republican congressman who did not run
for reelection to the house because he kept his
promise not to run again.
He sit out a term and is now running for the senate.

I don't believe it is breaking news.

Dr. Coburn limited his tenure in the House to three terms, going back to OK to deliver babies two days a week so he wouldn't be infected with Potomac Fever (the disease that afflicts so many of our public serpents). The establishment Republicans don't like him because they can't tell him what to do...the same reason they all backed Specter in PA rather than the conservative Toomey. Of course, the voters DO love him and I hope they will get out and vote for this excellent man in the OK primary next week. This would be Oklahoma's gift to the nation.

Thanks. You're preaching to the choir.

Here in Colorado conservative Bob Schaffer is running to replace SenBen Nighthorse Campbell. Schaffer also held to his promise and was term limited out of office. He faces Pete Coors, a conservative businessman of Coors beer fame. The GOP primary is on August.10th. Coors leads Schaffer in the polls, but the LibRat candidate, Ken Salazar, leads them both.

Actually, Dr. Tom Coburn was picked by the so-called "establisment" -- President Bush -- to co-chair the Presidential Advisory Council on HIV/AIDS in January of 2002.

Enough with this "establishment", anti-establisment BS. I would describe Dr. Tom Coburn as simply a great conservative.

"Uh.... who is Coburn and why is this considered breaking news?"

"Uh..." it's right there in the article. All you had to do was click the link and read it. It states that he's former US rep from Oklahoma who's running for US Senate.

..."This would be Oklahoma's gift to the nation."

Oklahoma keeps on giving nationally, Senators Nickles and Inhofe, J.C. Watts and I expect that trend to continue. We are not that consistent, however, in our own State legislature. Maybe this is the year we can win Republican majority.

Coburn is not only a man of great integrity; a Christian; constitutional conservative; he was a very effective legislator (as Congressman) pursuing free enterprise limited government objectives and the interests of the state.

It would be astounding if Oklahoma can't get it together to send him to the Senate.
