As seen live on NBCs Today Show shortly after 9:00 a.m. EDT this morning, Jim and Sarah Brady have openly started to exploit media coverage of the national Reagan state funeral service to promote renewal of the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban (AWB).
Anti-gun NBC co-host Katy Couric did her usual feel-good pandering to television viewers with her totally biased interview of the Bradys, allowing them to exploit the outpouring of sympathy regarding former President Reagans death as a promotional tool to convince Congress and President Bush to renew the AWB. Sarah Brady kept reiterating past reports that Reagan strongly supported both the 1993 Brady Bill and the 1994 AWB. She also bragged about how Reagan had convinced at least 10 conservative lawmakers to provide enough swing votes to pass both bills back then. She said that Reagans support for those bills provided cover for enough conservatives to provide the critical votes needed in order to pass gun control bills back then.
It is a shame that Katy Couric, the Bradys and other anti-RKBA lobbyists on Capitol Hill continue to exploit the nations grief over Reagans death to influence both Congress and the Bush administration to support renewal of the AWB, as well as other pending gun control bills. It is quite disingenuous that certain past actions by Reagan, probably caused by lapses in his memory due to Alzheimers disease, are now being exploited by the Bradys and others in the anti-gun medias coverage of this weeks funeral services.

TRT bang!
RKBA bump!
I'm still waiting for a well-timed Columbine, right before the election.
Is that all they've got?
I feel more confident every day that the AWB will sunset in September.
Soon, there just won't be time for the process.
Congress recesses in August, plus the Dem convention costs them another week.
Barring a huge Columbine type incident, it's just not in the cards for the Dems to stick there necks out on this.
... or right before consideration of the AWB renewal.
Do you suppose we could kill the AWB renewal with a bunch of poison pill amendments, like nationwide Vermont carry, repeal of NFA 34 (machine guns yes, AWs no), gun industry immunity, Brady sunset, etc. ?
I've long ago lost my respect for the Bradys. This doesn't surprise me.
Katie Braun is an evil little troll.
It occurs to me that we might be able to use statistical analysis of precursors to predict the general location, timing, and scale of the rampage we both expect.
precursors of some prior rampages include concentrated publicity of "gun violence" and media coverage of "gun control" fights.
There may be others.
I have not done a study, but the data for one is almost certainly available.
Given the increasing coverage of "gun related" murders by the lamestream media recently, I wouldn't be surprised if either real "terrorists", other criminals or genuine nutcases instigate a Columbine type incident between now and November 2nd.
I saw this one coming when one of the lamestream news channels had Brady on the other nite giving his remembrance of President Reagan.
The whores never miss an opportunity.
Yep. Very logical.
Anything - I mean ANYTHING with Couric in it - I cannot stomach.
Even her "eastern snarl" or whatever she seems to think is cool sets me on edge and I have to slide away from that channel (which I rarely have on anyway). I think she is too stupid to worry about such flagrant crudity of horning in on the traditional farewells.
I feel badly about the Brady family and admire their courage in getting an issue in front of the public but:
NOT THIS WEEK PLEASE!
Let Reagan have his deserved goodbye with those who loved him.
Before the election? Don't you mean before Sept.13th? (the sunset date.)
Don't get too complacent. They sneaked the 1986 MG ban in the middle of a gazillion page spending bill and I guarantee you that they plan on doing the EXACT same thing this time.
And was Hinckley's weapon registered? Was he licensed to possess, transport, or carry it? Had he ever taken an NRA-sponsored safety program?
I kinda doubt it.
It's impossible that Reagan was shot. Handguns are illegal in DC. :-)
