[history]
Is the clock ticking on Secretary General Kofi Annan's merry pranks at the United Nations? Could be.
The rank corruption of the body's Iraqi Oil-for-Food program is bubbling slowly to the surface - promising to ensnare scores of European politicians and businessmen, as well as a gaggle of Annan's Turtle Bay colleagues.

Could it be that Clarke was in the "KNOW" about that UN "OIL for FOOD" scam and that is part of the purpose of his timely book to give cover for Clintons administration helping that program stay alive for their "leftist" coalition?
His book sure does seem to sympathize with Saddam, as did the Clintons and liberals at large. Seems our own Congress might need their own investigation as to what the State Department knew and when it knew about the sanctioned rip off of the Iraqi people while protecting Saddam.

From what I've read on this scandal, all of the names on the list have not yet been revealed. It wouldn't surprise me in the least if there are some American politicians on it, which may explain some of the hysteria we've been seeing from the rats. Time will tell.

I tend to agree, these liberals do have to plant seeds of deception early on to cover up. What is strange is how willing this "The Commission" seems to be in making President Bush the villain and Saddam like a victim.
Who stands to benefit the most with this picture?

Afirmative action in action.

Yep, it all smacks of clintonian preemption, doesn't it.
They seem to be very afraid of something, IMHO.

I'm curious about something. Since I don't watch network news any more, nor do I read any of the major newspapers, has this story shown up in the major media? Ever the conspiracy buff, I'm wondering if or rather, how much the media's darling DNC is involved with this corruption. They have protested our action in Iraq as loudly as France or Russia has.
Besides, Clinton is probably one of the world's most corruptable/corrupt politicians and I find it hard to believe that he didn't get involved with those oil vouchers. Saddam put a hit on a former US president and Clinton did what?

Sure looks that way and looks as if the "Global-village" is at stake for them. They sure must have made promises to this "leftist" coalition, and their credibility is at stake, since they could not protect Saddam and his OIL!

The UN is accountable to NO ONE.
Why should they allow outside pressure influence them?

Thanks for the ping.
But, but, but John Kerry wants to turn over America's decision making process to the UN. What if they are found to be corrupt and are made to return the ill gotten monies? I guess that'll take Kofi out of the running for Mrs. Kerry number three.

Check out this article in The New York Post today posted on FR:
Oil For Palaces
Very telling paragraph:
"One recipient of that largesse was Shakir al-Khafaji, a Detroit businessman who stumped up $400,000 for former U.N. arms inspector Scott Ritter to make "In Shifting Sands," an anti-sanctions film. Meanwhile, back in Iraq, Saddam's secret police punished hundreds of thousands of Shi'a Iraqis by taking away their U.N. ration cards, forcing them into the very poverty from which the U.N. program was supposed to protect them."

Obviously, there were not enough inspectors there to find this out.

I can't wait to find out how much of a kickback Hans Blix got.
