Favre Blames Limbaugh's 'Bias'

Eagles Beat Packers, Favre Blames Limbaugh's 'Bias' (2004-01-11) -- Veteran Green Bay quarterback Brett Favre tonight accused radio talkshow host Rush Limbaugh of bias after the Packer's 20-17 overtime loss to Donovan McNabb's Philadelphia Eagles.

Mr. McNabb got off to the worst start of his career this season, and was the NFL's lowest-rated starting quarterback. But the Eagles' fortunes seemed to change in October after Mr. Limbaugh's televised remark that Mr. McNabb wasn't "that good" but that "the media has been very desirous that a black quarterback do well."

"Rush could have said 'the media has been very desirous that an old quarterback do well'," said Mr. Favre, who is seven years older than Mr. McNabb. "I'm sure I would have risen to the challenge just like Donovan did. But no! Rush showed his bias when he chose to rile a black man instead of an old man. Where's the outrage about Rush's blatant age discrimination? Why couldn't Limbaugh taunt me?"

Against the Packers, Mr. McNabb rushed for 107 yards, a playoff record for a quarterback, and passed for 248 yards and two touchdowns.

This is a variation on the "GW BUSH'S FAULT" defense.

This is the "RUSH CAUSED IT" defense.

I guess everyone needs to be reminded that Scrapple Face is the diametrically opposed equivalent of the The Onion.

I know that this is an attempt at "humor", but I blame an old quarterback who looked like a rookie when he heaved a big, stinky rainbow pass in OT that resulted in an interception. My team's not in the hunt any more (Titans), but I think that the Colts and Manning, who made NO mistakes again this game should win the Super Bowl.

My question is, how much did Skinny Joey Merlino's people pay Brett Favre to throw that interception in overtime ?

You gotta be kidding me! Hey Rush, come to my job and say I'm over rated so I can work better. GEESH! Hey Brett, how about your last pass to nowhere but a defender, did that have anything to do with losing the game? Brett Favre's post game remark: "Brett can't do it all, one of my linemen should have fell down and allowed me to be sacked before I threw that ball, not my fault! And Rush should have said I was over rated, he should have McNabbed me, not my fault, LeRoy can't do it all."

107 Yards would have been a sorry day for Jack Mildren or J.C. Watts.

..not to mention the fact that that everytime the Packers defensive line collapsed the pocket, they did not reach out and grab McNabb. Maybe Rush's comment did light a fire under McNabb. Sorry, but I'm not convinced. The Eagles are a 'one trick pony.' The Packers lost this one all on their own.

I blame the cowardly coach who could have won the game if he had the gonads to run the ball on 4th and inches.

At the risk of being accussed of sour grapes, I too think this game was fixed.

Point one - your running attack is a hugh success and yet in overtime, with over ten minutes to go, the coach decides to pass the ball. Why?

Point two - you can not get a TD with fourth and inches? Anyone ever heard of a sweep, yet you decide to run right up the middle where the bulk of the defense is located?

Point three - several times with third and short yardage, with the running game clicking like clockwork, you decide to throw the ball. Again, why?

I also believe that the Rams-Panthers game was fixed. You have a 1st down on the 15 and let the clock run down to 5 seconds without taking a shot at the end zone? That coach is suppose to be an offensive genius?

Right now, I do not have a dog in this hunt so I will probably sit out the rest of the playoffs and the SuperBowl. In fact, I may just start sitting out the rest of the NFL from now on, even though Joe Gibbs has returned. If the games are fixed, why watch?

Farve, however, did not blame the idiotic play calling of the Greenbay Offensive Coordinator on Limbaugh. The Packers, who twice were inside the 10 yard line, once on the one yard line, made bone-headed play calling a specialty of the night. Most knowledgeable footbal play callers know that drop back passing inside the red zone has a very low percentage of success...but the Packers felt they could be smart by half and FORCE the ball into the end zone in such limited real estate.

Then to top off the night of moronic play calling, the Packers attempted to draw the Eagles off sides late in the game when the Packers needed less than one yard for a 1st down that would have most likely SEALED the victory for the Packers. Everyone in America KNEW that the Eagles time out just before the play was for the purpose of instructing the team to NOT jump offsides and give the Packers a first down...but the BRILLIANT Packer play callers decided to be smart by half and FOOL the Egales by attempting to draw them offsides anyway. The Eagles, did not jump off sides, and the Packers blew a game.
