On your up-and-comers list, you should add Herman Can and take off Abel Maldanado.

I'm agreeing with your points more and more. I wonder if this is a prelude to a real crackdown on illegals. I.e., "I gave you this nice guest-worker program, take it or get out."
I can't help viewing all of Bush's moves through the lens of national security. If this were just about buying votes, it really doesn't make sense if you go state-by-state: Texas is Bush Country and if California is in play, Bush has already won.

I started with LOL then I realized how unfunny the truth is.

The whole trick is getting them to first Register and then later deport themselves. You forgot to use the magic words. It doesn't work without the magic words.

Outraged? Same sentiments here in Pacific Northwest...Of course Seattle, you never know. They're probably ticked because we didn't include free homes for each family.

If Sanchez loves it then ya know it's not good for America.

Did you read the definition you posted to me? Read it again, if you have.
This proposals does NOT make illegal immigrants into legal immigrants. It allows them to become temporary residents if they plead guilty and apply, or go back to Mexico and apply.

If this were just about buying votes, it really doesn't make sense if you go state-by-state: Texas is Bush Country and if California is in play, Bush has already won. It does according to George will this afternoon on Sean Hanity's radio program
"Due to the tremendous changes in electoral demographics over just the past 4 years, if Bush maintains the same demographic percentages he did in the 2000 election he will loose by 2 million popular votes and will be wiped out in the electoral college"
Apparently Hispandering is a must for Bush.

"Loretta Sanchez was gushing over this plan, stating she loves the plan."
What more do we need to know?...
Maybe we'll see a Bush/Sanchez ticket, to lock up that elusive latino vote the RNC lusts for.

No wonder Sanchez is so effusive. She, and other lib Dems, are counting potential votes. Anyone know who was really behind this amnesty by another name? I can't believe it is solely Bush's idea. I hear that it was Karl Rove. Please enlighten me (us?)

Far be it from me to argue with Mr. Will, but the polls and the 2002 election results suggest otherwise.

"This is also NOT amnesty, slow-motion or otherwise."
And social security IS NOT the nation's retirement plan!
And I'll eat my hat if this civil rights legislation ever leads to quotas!

That's only if one doesn't take Bush's overwhelming popularity (mostly due to his success in fighting the WOT) into account. A lot of Independents and moderate Dems who voted for Al Gore in 2000 will be voting for GWB this time around.

You realize, of course, that our unemployment rate is fairly low historically. Not really --- combine all those on welfare programs, SSI, NAFTA displaced worker prgrams, and unemployment. It's not low at all.
