I was watching the Tony Blair and President Bush press conference and an American reporter asked a question on the lines of do you believe Muslims and Christians worship the same God.
President Bush said that Christians and Muslims worship the same God!!!!
So what? So what? Are you serious?
Muslims believe that they are so right that they are willing to wage a global war to impose an Islamic culture/religion upon the world.
In fact, they believe they are so right that they believe this jihad has been ordained and approved of by God.
Again...stop being so simple. It's not about right and wrong.
How many churches are open in Saudi Arabia?
There was one, for foreigners. They met at the U.S. Embassy. Then Clinton caved to Saudi pressure and shut it down. I don't know if Bush's ambassador now permits the services.
Not my point at all...hasn't been this entire thread.
Perhaps you missed where Islam replaced the God of Abraham with someone else.
To whom? The Christian or to the Muslim?
Thus, Islam worships a different god.
Again...to whom? To the Christian, or to the Muslim? Because it makes a difference.
Now, if I truly missed your forest, perhaps you can find enough kindness in your religious heart to spell it out for me.
Oooohhhh! Barbed comment! LOL!
This thread has shown me some things such as:
Don't assume because someone says they are Christian that they know the truth. And
The devil's work is so subtle. He even has Christians believing pagan religions worship the one true God. And he can confuse the issue even on a conservative board to such an extent that the real reason for the original post has been lost.
What does George Bush's statement mean for his presidency and our future as a nation?
I ask all Christians to remember who our enemy is. Pray for President Bush that his eyes are opened to the truth. That he holds fast to the Lord's truth and not worldly, cultural truth, and that those who know themselves as Christians will seek truth not convenient ideas.
Hold fast to the truth especially, the Bible, the one true offensive weapon we have to use against our enemy.
"For whoever has, to him more shall be given, and he will have an abundance, but whoever does not have, even what he has shall be take away from him." Matt. 13:12
That's what they tell you.
I don't see many Jews or Christians sacrificing animals because the Bible says so.
Christians don't sacrifice animals, because the Bible (in the New Testament) says the temple sacrifices were a pattern of what was to come, the final sacrifice of Christ for his people. As that is complete, no new sacrifice is required. As for the Jews, those who wish to continue the sacrifices are missing some necessary tools, among them the temple, the site of which is now occupied by a Muslim Mosque.
These militant muslims HAVE hijacked a religion based on THEIR interpretation of the Koran.
Their's is the traditional view, not the modern revisionist view. There's nothing in the Koran itself that says its teachings won't be applicable in the "modern," or any other future, period of history. You should have more respect for Islam than to let moderns hijack it.
Funny how my son's 7th-grade social studies textbook fails to mention any of that about Muhammad. It basically says he's this wonderful guy who, as a young man, came up with a clever solution to the problem of who would have the honor of placing the Kaaba in the reconstructed temple (or whatever the place is/was). Then, he received word from God, and Islam took off from there. Nothing at all about how it spread so rapidly, either. Just that it did.
I guess that other stuff is just so much hate speech (even if it happens to be true).
My God was crucified and was resurrected.
My God is the eternal one, has always been God, and He created the Heavens and the Earth. (see John 1)
My God is not the "spirit brother" of Satan. He did not start out as a man on His way to deification. ("As man is God once was; As God is man may become." Mormonism)
My God is the same yesterday, today and tomorrow. Before Him no Gods were formed, and none after. (see Isaiah 43:10)
My God must be worshipped in spirit and it truth.
This is the God of the Bible.
You're right on target. I see the posters from the White House basement are barking at you with the Rove line: "How dare you criticize the President!"
Frankly, I see a misunderstanding like this doing in the whole country.
No, they take a practical view of their faith and apply it to daily life. And rather than to be the skeptic and think they are lying to me- knowing that all people can and do lie regardless of their religious belief- I look for the good in people. If I am wrong, then so be it. Christians aren't instructed to sacrifice animals, the sacrifice of Christ is sufficient. Jews, as I recall, conduct their sacrifices in a Temple, and there isn't one at the moment.
But the Bible is a WHOLE document which gives the history of God and Christ. If you can say that accepting Christ's sacrifice is enough, then why can't Muslims also choose which parts of the Koran to believe and which parts to dismiss? Jews don't believe Christ is the son of God. Are they wrong also?
They're actually interpreting the Koran as written. Jihad is integral to Islam. Mohammed evangelized through jihad.
Yes, and??? Written as they interpret it. Like the Bible, the Koran has been written and interpreted differently over thousands of years. If it meant the same to all Muslims, then you would see all Muslims being terrorists. If one would go by what you just said, then there can be only one true religion based on the Bible. So what is it? Christianity? Judism? Factions of Christianity??? Every single one of them believe something different. Which one is right? And which Bible version is right? King James, NIV?
How would belief in the God of Mohammed, which binds Muslims, ever keep them peaceful?
Why not ask the peaceful Muslims here in the US?
Muslim who truly believes in pluralism, and doesn't desire Islamic government and the institution of sharia law, is actually a heretic to Islam. There is no secular tradition in Islam; no equivalent to Jesus' dictum: "Render unto Caesar that which is Caesar's, and render unto God that which is God's.
That is your opinion. But let me ask you this. What if modern/moderate Muslims believe the militants are wrong and are heretics to Islam? Isn't it entirely possible that the radical element of Islam is causing a secular movement within Islam?
