The trouble is, how is Trump going to back out of it? He will be taunted by the press incessantly.

Now, who is going to be the Congressman who requests Trump to testify under oath?

You could swing a dead cat and find a retard in congress who would bring this up.

On the other hand it would be “certain death” for any Republican to vote for impeachment under any circumstances in this case.

That would depend on whether they could convince Trump voters that President Trump was actually guilty of a high crime. We are law and order people. They think they can do it, but they seriously messed that one up with their "resist" drumbeat. By calling for impeachment over trivia as small as withdrawing from the Paris "Agreement" (not even officially a treaty because Obama didn't want to get voted down by the Senate), and for no specified reason at all, they made sure that decent people would look skeptically at any future calls for impeachment.

You don’t think so?

I think the natural inclination of democrats is to support crimes that help their side, while the natural inclination of decent Americans is to support the rule of law. I also think that if we really believed that Trump was guilty of serious crimes we would support impeachment. “President Pence” would be a big step up from “President Felon” to a law-and-order voter.

The two big problems are:
(1) Credibility for the media has hit zero. As President Trump said, he could “stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose voters”, mainly because no one would trust eyewitness reports or even video on the evening news.
(2) The other side is so shockingly evil that most of us would now expect a Trump replacement to be worse than whatever they claimed or even had evidence to “prove” about President Trump.

We believe in law and order. We don’t believe in the people who want to write our laws or enforce order.

-- This is a big mistake. Trump thinks that these "investigations" are objective. --

I doubt he thinks that. By this time he knows the long knives are out from Congress, the Courts, and pockets of the executive branch. See Comey, also supposed to be objective, clearly biased, clearly boring in for the kill.

Lawfare, meet politics.

So what? I laugh when his taxes are brought up, weekly more or less.

The audience he has to please is the public, not the press. The press can want to see the barking seal act, but if the public is ready to go to the concession stand, or is bored with barking seal, then by all means, take the public to the concession stand.

TRUMP can even say he'll go under a lie detector test with Comey even though he was FBI Director & may know how to fool it

See what Comey says! lol

I think cboldt is an attorney..and doesnt have a problem with trump opening his mouth because he thinks trump is smart enough to handle it

..but in general..MOST lawyers would tell trump to STHU

I havent checked trumps tweets this morning but he is showing a fair amount of restraint. I hope it lasts

Trumps tweets only have one early morning tweet about comey..and a retweet of Alan d.
So he is trying to stay off that subject. Keep it up.

It going to be like a prosecutor who keeps trying to goad a witness into saying something helpful. He has to resist

It was early, and I was groggy. We (conservatives) believe in law and order, but as for the rest..? Not so much.
