As the controversy rages over the fallout from Donald Trumps outlandish comments about Fox News debate moderator Megyn Kelly and many of his Republican presidential rivals demand his apology, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) looks like the cat who swallowed the canary.
No one really thinks that Trump, the real estate tycoon and reality TV showman, has peaked since suggesting that Kelly was having her period when she peppered Trump Thursday night about his numerous past misogynistic quips. A new Reuters poll found him leading among Republican voters after the debate with 24 percent, compared to 12 percent for former Florida Governor Jeb Bush.
As brash, bombastic Trumps White House bid begins to show signs of wear and tear, Cruz stands poised to inherit some of Trumps momentum and apply it in new ways that could potentially wreak havoc on the Republican brand in the fall. Cruz has been careful not to criticize Trump in any way, even as other candidates including Bush and Sen. Lindsey Graham of South Carolina have denounced him as a blight on the party who should get out of the race.
While the crowded, 17-member GOP field has obsessed on the damage that Trump has done to the party by alienating Hispanics and women voters, an effervescent Cruz has raked in $1.1 million and embarked on a seven state southern swing this week. He seems to be positioning himself for a possible Trump stumble that would free up some of his hard-right conservative following.
Discounting any suggestion that he is salivating over the prospects of picking up some crumbs that might fall from Trumps table, Cruz told MSNBC on Monday that Im making a play to pick up the supporters of every other candidate in this race.(continued)

Maturity. MORAL COMPASS, Brains...Attitude
Go Ted
Yep, the Trump bubble will soon be over and then back to sanity and Cruz.
...and among those shocked will be Rush Limbaugh.....
Why would Rush be shocked? He’s not shilling for Trump. He just recognizes that it’s good he’s in the race to shake up the GOP establishment.
Ted has been fighting this fight since Donald was a Democrat
Agree. Trump has done the race and conservatives a great service, whether he knows it or not, by shifting the playing field.
What a hit piece
“Fiscal times” ??
Really? Do they do any better factual reporting about fiscal subjects?
His show the last 6 weeks comes off as shilling for Trump - yes, I know, he says he’s NOT endorsing Trump - but his show is 80% Trump and it’s 99.9% positive. The impact is the same.
He’s totally ignored the questions about Trump’s philosophical incoherence and flip flops....and so on. Rush had a hard hard time figuring out Rove - because he knew Rove and liked Rove. Same might be true with Rush and Trump.
Meanwhile he’s quietly conducting raids on the Rand Paul camp.

trumps plans for wednesday are working to grab a few more hillary supporters
I hate to break it to you guys. Cruz is unelectable as president. Maybe as VP, but I doubt that too. Donald’s hair has more charisma than Cruz.
Lifelong liberal Donald Trump is the Paris Hilton of politics.
Trump will pass the baton to Cruz.
There you have it guys! The n00b with a entire month posting under his belt has spoken. Time to find a new candidate. /s
All he’ll ever get are those who are rational anyway.
Cruz won’t get the pro choice libertarians but that’s fine with me. Cruz is more restrained with the war fighting talk which helps. He’s also a big states rights guy.
Its really more a matter of where they will go when Paul drops out.
Go away n00b, we’re among friends and you ain’t.
