Trump: I'm not thinking third party -- for now
Washington Examiner ^ | 7/7/15 | Byron York

Donald Trump's 2016 presidential run seems custom-made for a third party. The billionaire developer has never held political office, never run as a Republican or Democrat. He doesn't need a party's money-raising apparatus. His anti-politician appeal — "Politicians are never going to bring us to the promised land" — cuts equally against Republicans and Democrats. And as far as Republicans are concerned, Trump appears to connect with GOP voters who are so disgusted with the party's current Washington leadership that they would be open to a third-party campaign.

But in an interview Tuesday, Trump said he has no interest in running as a third-party candidate, at least for the moment. "I've had many, many people ask me about running as an independent," Trump told me in a telephone conversation. "My sole focus is to run as a Republican. I'm a conservative Republican."

"My sole focus is to run as a Republican," Trump repeated, "because of the fact that I believe that is the best way we can defeat the Democrats."

When I asked Trump to elaborate on why he would stay in the GOP, Trump cited his rising position in the polls, the big crowds he attracts, and his profile in the race. "We've hit a nerve," he said.

"Trump said he supports a ban on assault weapons and longer waiting periods on gun purchases."

Yes he did. He said that in his book, fifteen years ago.

Let's put that into context, shall we?

In his 2002 campaign for governor, Mitt Romney said during a debate, "I will preserve and protect a woman's right to choose...". Even so, when he ran for POTUS in 2012, few here believed he had truly changed. I know I didn't.

In his 2000 book "The America We Deserve" Trump said he was for banning guns and extending the waiting periods to buy them. That was 15 years ago. However, just two years ago he praised former New York mayor Michael Bloomberg for "Putting his money where his mouth is on guns" aka, using his millions to try to take guns from law-abiding citizens. But we're supposed to believe he is 100% pro-Second Amendment just two years later because he says he is during a presidential campaign?

I don't, and I don't for the same reasons I didn't believe Romney.

“Trump has always operated on “other people’s money.”
He’s one of the great scamsters of all time.”

Care to elaborate?
